Does different picks matter?

i think for acoustic, yes it does.
i remember buying my first picks.
i got one damn thick jim dunlop pick. maybe for bass.
and my kuzz who tot me how to play was like, wtf?
so, i think, yar, it does matter..

yes it does, along with your technique and your touch with the strings.

u can check out older posts on this topic under the sticky - Others -> Guitar Picks.

it's good to try out various brands/ shapes/ thickness, choose the one which helps you play better.

i started out with thin <1mm picks but along the way, my playing style dictates the use of a thicker, sharp-tipped pick. using Dunlop Stubby now 8)

Also depends on what kind of music you're playing. For big strummy chords with a lot of up and down motion, I personally feel more comfortable with a thinner more flexible pick, though for greatear volume, then a stiffer pick will do. For fast picked runs, you might want to lean towards a thicker pick that bends less and gives a bit more attack. The shape of the tip is also important and this is a matter of taste. I've tried lots of different types and the only ones I thought were completely useless were these paper thin Sharkfin ones that you can see through if you hold them up to the light.

Why didnt you try it out for yourself? The difference in feel/tone is obvious....

Is it just me or ppl just don't look at the stickies?!

i also use a stubby but i prefer the jazz III...man, lost it yesterdae :( ...
those kinda picks arent really suitable 4 strumming right?

Thicker picks project more sound from ur guitar, thinner picks are easier for strumming as being thinner, it creates less resistance as u strike the strings. But it also depends on how hard u pick, cos i have a friend who used medium picks but keep breakin them, so he swithced to Heavy ones. And as most picks are quite cheap, u should tried out various thickness or brands before deciding.
