I guess I would look at it more like a tool than a cheating device
yeah well..like it or not, these pedals are widely regarded as "the losers' toys" Though i find getting used to the vruks isnt as easy.

guitaralpiss, when the double pedals were first invented, many many drummers were skeptical of its uses in the music scene that time. yet it pulled through and many pple now own a pair of double pedals and even more desire to own one.
don't judge it based on your own perceptions. double pedals were regarded as a "cheater's tool" in the past too.

drummer-buah, what i have stated is not my own input. and i mentioned nothing negative abt double pedals in general. to name a few, u can browse yanic, flo, & derek's forums & sites to find out why these so-called cheating pedals are not entertained. its nothing to b proud of. The first double bass was invented during the time of Psychedelic Rock. Then came the double pedals. Atleast most in the rock scene werent skeptical. Obviously one needed an extra pedal to blast through. The human body wont let one foot carry on faster. With the double bass/pedal, insane speeds can b achieved, and many drummers have showed us. These new pedals do nothing new. If one cant pedal 32/120bpm, synthesizers are the way to go. Hell, just use PCDrummer.

guitaralpiss, i would like to agree with drummer-buah, it is a tool. no doubt it lets a drummer who does not know how to use double stroke/ bass to go have a double base effect. but for more skilled drummers, it frees their left leg, which an be put for better use like for hi-hats, tamborines, cowbells, etc.

and why it's different from a synth or software, cos duallist uses 50% of ur effort, computer uses no effort.

Everybody!!

S T F U!!

and just start drumming lah..

No use arguing abt whether that thing is use for watever cheating or wat not..

Just pick up a pair of sticks and bash the drums lah!

Talk N talk only. If I were to ask for drummers gathering, no one turns up.

Its good if all the drummers that were involve in these arguments were to meet up one day and talk abt drums than just sit behind the screen and talk as if they can drum.

Get wat I mean?

Eh Strats, that "My Little Pony" cartoon used to be cute last time!

HAHAHAHA :D

Although I prefer Care Bears sia!

i was using double pedals as the counter-part in that era. i shan't continue cuz i did not hit the point i was trying to make.

happy drumming all = 8)

drummer-buah, dont take this as an argument. shred5, i know u play very well & ur a master at the drums but this has got nothing to do with who plays better or who dares to turn up for a gathering. This is no argument. This is a discussion. In discussions, ppl talk N talk only

If i were to b with any1 of u, & this were to b brought up, i would love to talk abt it. There isnt any harm if ppl are made aware of something thats different from their point of view, no?

Enjoy the linked clips & the discussion there
It sucks that these things along with the dualist have been invented imho
And when such a pedal does what its supposed to do
Who wants to hear machine gun instead of the bass drum ???
Well actually its cool..when ur playing fps games

I never said that I'm a master at drums.. There are and there will be other drummers who are better than me or anyone else.

If u guys were to discuss abt all this so called "cheating" device, its never going to end.

Its up to individual preference whether they want to use those things or not. And I'm not talking just abt the vruk pedals or duallist only dat u guys mentioned.

Almost all new stuffs/gadgets for drumming were somehow considered to be a blasphemy/deviation from the norm. And it takes time to accept it.

For now, there are ppl who find it hard to accept the duallist or vruk pedals. Who knows, in 20 years to come?

Its like when guitar pectrums were invented, those classical guitarists who pick with their fingers became "George-of-the-jungle" and "KingKongs" over that tiny little thing.

But look at how it has evolved?

And when I said that I wanted to arrange a gathering, I'm not challenging anyone into a drum duel or anything.

I can't play drums to save my a** for ur info.

My main intention is so that we could share tips on drummings and such. Be it hardware related and anything related to drumming.

u never said. but i know  ok then i misinterpreted ur sentence. well it would end..just with lots of views. The vruks arent that bad..since they provide a platform for simpler heel-toe. But there r ppl who dismiss vruks as another of duallists' kind. I know what u mean..but there r reasons for such things. Picks can provide u with the speed & techniques ur fingers cant. The double bass provides faster bass beats which 1 foot can nvr handle. The double pedals were invented to save the cost of buying 2 bass drums. But yes u r right, mayb in the future ppl would like machinegun music  But now it makes no sense to pay such a high price for such a pedal.

And its not only pedals.

Who wld have thought that drumsticks cld be made of metal?

But now, Ahead Sticks are one of the leading manufacturer of em.

And there are still drummers who rebuked them. (i'm neutral by the way)

Judging by the the number of ads for these metal schticks, its gonna widespread.

I'm still wondering if electronic drums will replace acoustic drums permenently.

Will it happened? Only drummers will decide for themselves.

Actually, I wouldn't think they were arguing or anything close to it. They were doing exactly what a forum is for: expressing their views. You are right, it might not end since it is subjective, but it doesn't have to mean avoiding a healthy discussion. After all, it shows you different opinions and might provide a different perspective to all as well.

While I don't disagree you to just "play drums", if a forum is not a place to 'talk', then why are we here? :D

Things might turn unhealthy if ppl were to carry on "discussing" abt stuffs that can lead to a heated argument right?

Might as well just play drums!

Hey I only asked a double pedal feature and it came to this. What the hell is wrong with you people?

Dat is why i find it strange. From asking abt dbl pedals, it ends up to a different story.

Just stop this argument and start playing.

If want to argue/discuss abt drums, we had better create another thread.
