Do Your Parents Support You?

Awesome. And I literally learned music theory from a book. Still looking for that Music Theory For Dummies Book. But my parents, they literally don't bother. And i'm almost 18 anyways, so what the heck. I think by the time i'm 30, I would have at least got some work experience in the scene, whether my parents like it, OR NOT

my mom supports me, but my dad doesn't

thats fine with me... I will just have to make nicer BBQed chicken ^^

My parents do support me,

In fact my mum pushed me to complete my grade 8 in violin when i was 15..

Now that im into guitar for leisure, the only thing they nag at me is to prioritise since im in jc..

But im glad they do give me the freedom to choose what i enjoy (i.e music.)

Most of my items are bought using my savings, the only aid i got from my dad in the economic field was the buying of a gibson.

I really consider myself to be very fortunate..

I wished my mum did. She wanted to send me for piano classes but I didn't want it that time. I REGRETTED!!!!
Now, whenever I struggle playing the keyboard at home, she'll look at me and say, "See lah, See lah" And laughed.

HAHA, at least you got a chance yah. All my parents do is nag about it, even when my i'm playing 16th notes smoothly at 160bpm. I blame mats who play guitar at void decks for the bad influence guitar has on our parents, well, only for malay ones at least. HAHA

For me,my parents always state that they support me in playing guitar because of my interest, but not because playing music can be a career in singapore..they always say that you cannot earn money by playing music..

My parents were kind of sceptical abt my sudden involvements in the music scene but they gave their secret blessing and moral support from behind.

I seem to have double problem here. I wanted to become a musician and a comic artist. Dont ask me why lol. I seem to have a thing for music and comics.

This proves pretty hard for my parents since they knew i couldnt earn much in both situations. Nor would i really succeed in either situation. Nevertheless they still supported me for what i wanted to do in my life.

I'm kinda thinking twice now though. I did pretty bad in my 'o' levels. Maybe i'll get a real job and become a part-time musician and part-time comic artist too. Haha only time will tell

dude. mind your words.. we play guitar under void decks to refain from disturbing our family members at home when members visit our house to play. tell your parents to change their mindset or at least don't blame us if you don't know whats our problem. don't mention race over here. be respectful.

Hey TS... Your last comment is way out of line. Do look up your attitude in a flawless mirror and perhaps you'll find the perfect answer to your predicament.

it is highly unlikely that any human being eats more salt in a lifetime than someone eats rice in 2 years, seriously.
