DIY repair.

Oh calamity!
My sister accidently toppled my acoustic over, and the entire headstock came off.

So, I decided to repair it myself. Pieced it together, drilled some holes, and attached it back. It sounds as good as before, only that it goes out of tune easily. But I guess that's expected. Cheers!

You should have glued it back... if you used only the nuts and bolts, the transfer of vibrations would be lost in the crack....

Hmm, true. Even though the cracks are minimal, to say the least.
Maybe I ought to remove the headstock, glue it together, and reinforce it with the nuts and bolts.

I think that's a good idea....cos the bolts probably don't hold it that solid. The joint probably still has space to flex, thus causing the tuning to go haywire.

Just take care to ensure that the headstock is in the right position, you don't want the glue setting when it's a little off!

Good luck, man! Hurts my heart to see that happen to a guitar....

Dan studios does very good broken headstock repair at very affordable prices...uses wood glue and clamping technics and will retouch up your finish...try him...not bad...

Dude if i were u, i will cry for 3 days 3 nights  Didnt know such serious damage can be done...I feel the pain..Note to self: No more leaning my guitar in a precarious position

Wow! Thats actually quite a dangerous thing you are doing..
My advice for broken headstock (reglued or not , bolted or not), the tension of these acoustic strings have a tendency to re-snap the whole neck again.
Had witness one incident of this snapping before, and it almost got the player in his face.
So if you really have to use this guitar (for sendimental value etc), I suggest you use the lightest string that you can find in the market.

Thanks for all the advice.
So far it's still going strong, but I don't play on the acoustic that much. It's more of a sentimental issue, my first ever guitar.
