hmz honestly i've not heard of anything that goes " No special skills are required."
If you want to level a fret, you'll NEED some skills. Or at least some uncommon common sense. I've seen a friend who "levelled" a fret until it hits the fingerboard!
If you just wish to polish up your frets without spending big money, it's possible to get it done professionally yourself.
imo fret polishing just makes the frets look shiny and nice. brasso can do the job pretty well but just be careful with rosewood. you might want to tape the fretboard up with masking tape beofre attempting.
fret levelling on the other hand is an entirely different thing by itself. it is hard work thats for sure. you have to know what you are doing otherwise you are going to end up with super flat and rough frets!
relinquish69, wouldn't autosol be better? Its more like a paste where Brasso is a fluid, even if you apply to a cloth first - chances are, you'll squeeze some out and no masking tape is going to stop liquids from seeping into the wood.
Use dremel tool with industrial rust remover at 1000000rpm
dun need use tape or anyhting. just applicate to fretboard.
okok jk. btw hmm i really think the planet waves fret polish is not enough.. i prefer using autosol and use my GHS guitar gloss to it. woah. its really shiny that it reflects lots of light. I used some masking tape. btw on some of the fret scratches. i use some fine steel wool. to even it up to prevent fret buzzing..
to me brasso is liquid sand paper. usually after levelling the frets, I would tape up the neck like Gr3y and apply brasso on the frets. autosol just polishes the frets which is quite redundant at least to me.
