Distortion Pedals. HElp!

Hey fellow softies, i am looking forward to buy a distortion pedal. I currently own a vox tonelab LE. which is a multi efx. time to change to single hehe.

I need help on solving my dilemma,

MXR distortion III
Proco Rat 2
Tube screamer 808 or 9 or dx9
Sansamp gt2

Which 1 is better or which is best bang for buck? :D

Thanks for the help!

the tube screamers are low-mid overdrive... the gt2 is somewhat an amp simulator... you need to state the kinda music you play first.. ;)

i think the gt2 is the most versatile among the lot.

all ur choices are very different pedals actually. a tubescreamer is not really a distortion also. it will not have enough gain. best is you go listen to demos on youtube, or better still get to try each pedal out by yourself and see which one you like.

hmm... why is it 'time to change'? do multi-FX units have a good service life, beyond which it's rendered unnecessary?

I'm looking to get a Keeley Mod TS9DX FLEXI-4X2. Not sure how it really sounds yet though, just demos online, yet to try. I just saw one at Davis yesterday, what do you guys think of the price n sounding of it?
$350 for it. From the demos I saw on youtube, it amazed me quite abit.

Actually, xuanzang, it really depends on what music you're playing, or what type of sound you want. I would think its better to hear through demos of those you're eying on, or if you have the chance, to really try them to see which suits you better.

i play 80s rock, guns n roses, bonjovi, etc etc....not sure which 1 to get argh!
does any1 know the original price of the pedals ?

To subversion, mine is a tube vox tonelab LE. its good, but i need analog efx rather than digital to suit my needs!

many of us here would agree that when tone is the issue, opinions could be very well divided- get what you want to hear, whatever the means (pedals or otherwise).

the pedals you listed are varied in voicings, no 1 pedal can comprehensively replace your Tonelab dynamics (assuming you wish to keep up).

hey to all here, I was thinking of making a thread for getting a distortion pedal but since there's one here might as well use it. I play metal and I want to get a good distortion pedal, I have a digitech death metal pedal which IMO gives the kind of distortion I want but it drains batteries super quickly, so can anyone recommend me a pedal which can give a similar kind of distortion but perharps last better? Budget would be around 100 I guess, thanks!

I cant resist typing, "I'm actually selling a Distortion III".
Its rather versatile, and goes from a nice overdrive to sustaining distortion. You do experience some treble loss even with the tone set to full and it gets a little muddy at certain high gain settings. Overall I would say it served me well and that pedal really did wonders for me. Cheap too.

Do PM me if you are interested.

Hey iJ, have you considered getting an adaptor instead? A 1Spot from G77 or a Biyang Adaptor from Standard Value would only cost $30 at most.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion! However I'm not really sure how it works so do you mind explaining to me, or anyone else? Cos I'm pretty new to pedals and all. :???:

If you want a single pedal that gets you good tones, and must be analog, then go get the Digitech Hardwire Valve Distortion from Swee Lee. Get it now while their stock is still MIA.
