Distortion pedal for metal songs

Hey guys, i have been thinking of buying a distortion pedal as my current pedal doesn't give me enough of the chugga chugga feeling. i play songs usually from Avenged Sevenfold,Bullet for my valentine, linkin park and Trivium. i have been considering the Biyang Metal End King and the Beta Alvin heavy metal HM-200. which would be better?

nope havent try. i want to like see how you guys think of first before going down and try cause i shy ah haha

AMT california sound or rammstein (a bit harsher). Very thick and chunky sounding pedals, the cab emulation sounds awesome.

the metal end is not exactly a low budget pedal as well...about $160...but StandardValue is having sales now so 20% off i believe....Metal Muff would probably cost around $180?

I haven't tried a modded MT-2 but if i had to choose an affordable pedal that I can count on whether it's at home or in the studio, I'll consider a 2nd hand Line 6 Uber Metal. Sounds good but not great, and very consistent...cause it's digital =)

Muff works for me

It really depends on the sound you wanna shape. I have heard some wicked metal riffs from Metal Bands using Fuzz Pedals.

I use a Russian Muff for my solos and dirty bashing of chords. It all depends on how you tweak.

Munkee from Korn uses a NYC Muff. Just so you know.

Cheers,
TF

macca: i realised from ur sig that u have a hardwire metal distortion. would u recommend it?

it's awesome! loving it to bits so far! It has quite a warm feel to it. But slightly more expensive...about $210

really quiet, no compatibility issue with amps i've tried so far, the EQ knobs available (Same as the MT-2) allows u to tweak it to perfection

many awesome sounds u can get from this pedal from smooth to really intense distortion

and of course, the build is excellent on the Hardwire series =)

i've tried many distortion pedals which, on the label, promises to manifest the metal type intensity. they do work in this aspect but many fall short of good clarity when volume is raised, as well as distortion saturation for harmonics application- some of them cost a bomb but they remain lacking. as such, i get better results cascading 2 drive/ distortion pedals to achieve intensity & saturation, some of which are the following combo:

1. Marhsall Guvnor+ & MXR Distortion+

2. EHX NANO Metal Muff + Ibanez TS7

3. Visual Sound Son of Hyde + Ibanez TS7

4. Danelectro Cool Cat distortion + Ibanez TS7

5. Carl Martin Crush Zone + Ibanez TS7

however, if you require one pedal only for this objective, do consider the following:

1. Danelectro: Coolcat Metal

2. Digitech: Death Metal

3. Biyang: Metal End King (my firm recommendation to those in search of great warmth & dynamics without burning a hole in your pocket)

the metal end has failed me so badly in studios i had to let it go hah

it sure has compatibility issues with amps

but i don't deny that it sounds great when it works

ah- matching issues, i see... 8-) this is why i believe in an amp's drive/ distortion capacity rather than pedals but some of us can't tread the amp path, pedals serve us better.
