dirt boosting again

hey! if i wanna place a gain booster in my chain. where i do place it?

my chain is wah>dirt>clean booster>delay>tuner

does it go behind the dirt or behind the clean booster or infront of the dirt?

i was thinking of a booster thats pretty transparent. im looking for something that wont colour my sound TOO much

any recommendations? i can only think of a sahasrara od and sparkle drive atm (the tubescreamers wouldnt be recommended here eh?)

ah ok. the only ts that i've experimented with so far is the vs jnh(green channel)

how are you planning to use this booster?
if you are planning to push the drive/gain of the dirt, normally one would put it before

otherwise, it will just be like your clean boost but with some gain on hand

or you could try putting the clean booster before the dirt and see how it sounds first

eh. if i put it in front of my main drive unit. i wont be able to boost much volume right?

i probably just need that slight edge when playing fills or solos

It really depends a lot on your choice of dirt booster.

I realised that the usual recommendation of "oh its a dirt booster so it MUSSST be before your main dirt pedals!" isn't always the best.

In fact, there are dirty boosts, that when placed AFTER your dirt - enhances your harmonics/ adds bite/ etc etc but if you did it the other way round, you get less of that effect but maybe end up with changes in other areas, i.e. Bass tightened, more gain, etc.

However, in your case with the 2 drives you mentioned, its likely better before dirt... unless you enjoy very smooth tones (e.g. that JnH thing)

And yes, the Sparkle is a TS clone.
