Dilema (Amps)

Got a few options here, budget near those amps... Quality wise, tried but still dunno which one best, all sounds same to me :( (me newbie!)

1) Tech 21 TM10

2) Peavey Studio Pro 112

3) Marshall AVT-20

I play basically all types of music. I want a good sound from my pedals be it at low/high volume... I dunno abt AVT-20, owned it once and didn't really give me a nice sound at low levels? Maybe its just me.

Do help me this lil newbie. Oh and, if you got any other amps to recommend, feel free to post it here.

I'm hoping to get a very rock feel from the amp. From classic to modern. Maybe VERSATILE can be used to describe the amp i want lol. Thanks!

Havnt tried the studio pro112, but i'm using a peavey, and its awesome. Since you're using pedal distortion, maybe can juz go for the kustom amps? Cheap and good, 400+ for 65w

Newbie, any budget concern?
of the three i`ll go for peavey..

if u wanna gd sounding or loud, then scout for those 2x10 speaker, shld hav enuf low end. What guitarnoob suggest is gd and fit the bill.

i'll go for TM10. Tech21 NYC's stuff is quality man. 10watts is lacking but its controls are extremely versatile.

dude , if you already have pedals , then id suggest the tried and tested peavey 1x12 combo. If you want the TM10 ...then id think it would make your distortion pedals a little redundant.

i'm a lil' curious.. how would it make the distortion pedals redundant?

Budget wise, 500-600. Im actually quite concern with the volume.

Im living in a HDB. I hope it can be loud enough, and even at low volumes it can have a good sound, and not those weak distortion or anything.

I'm more of a pedal fan, rather than amp's distortion.

Which peavey are you using GuitarNoob?

why dont you go for sansamp pedal? =) can get the best distortion...summore you can bring it everywhere

it would be quite dumb to buy a tech 21 trademark 10 ... and play it on clean with your ds-1...
i believe when you buy the tm10 its mainly for the sansamp within... and its tones.. and you are paying alot of money for the sansamp...

a 1x12 speaker would also be better.. 10" sounds kinda nasal to me..

the best amp in ur list is the Tech21 TM10

but if u like to use a lot of pedals, probably better gettin' an amp wif gd clean sound, like vox amps r something...tts cheaper...
(nt tt the TM10 hasn't gt gd clean sound)

cuz the dist frm the TM10 blows away most pedals in tha market...

I'm using the Peavey XXL, but its way over your budget, highly recommended though.
Sansamp and Kustom make a gd combo, but i suggest you get a booster for the sansamp tri a.c/gt-2

I play basically all types of music.

The 1st amp that comes to my mind is the Vox AD30VT. It suits your requirements perfectly.

1. For a nice sound at low levels? It comes with the watt adjustment knob from 1-30W specifically for that reason. To retain the tone at lower levels.

11 amp models 11 presets for the versatility with a 12ax7 tube at the power amp section for warm tubey modelling. With realistic amp models like the JCM800, DSL, Plexi, mesa boogie, you can't get any rockier than that!. Unless you like thrash metal, the vox can produce any sound from classic "dumble" cleans to modern.

I've encountered the same dilemma as you before and tried many different amps but the Vox AD30vt ended the search for me. I've a good impression of the cube30 as well but imo, the vox sounded warmer.

For a higher budget, you can get the higher series for more flexibility and volume. I think the 30watt with the adjustment knob will suffice as most of thetime you won't be using the full power of 50 or higher watts in a high-rise apartment.

Hope this helps.

As a former owner of a Vox AD30, I have to say that the cleans and slight OD is very nice, especially when the OD is boosted with a OD pedal or clean boost. However, when things get heavier, ie. Plexi, Mesa, Marshall, the tones were seriously lacking, with it being scooped to an unearthly degree (I like my mids) or extremely bassy or thin. But with the OD channel mixed with an OD/dist pedal, it produced pretty nice tones (after lots of tweaking). So if you want nice chunky distortion, you would have to use your pedals, but the clean is definitely a notch above the rest.
