Digital Piano key repair

Hi,
Not sure if this is the correct section to post.

My yamaha digital piano has been going well until recently, afew keys became stiffer and seems to get stuck when you pressed it.

I rang up Yamaha and they sent a technician over today. However I was shock to realise that the whole keyboard needs to be change !! Moreover it will cost an estimate of about SGD700!!!

Just wondering if anyone experience this stiff keys issue? Is it true that we need to change the whole keyboard or is there sometime less pricy we can do to the keyboard. The technician said that some plastic thing broke underneath the keyboard.

After seeing my dejected look on my face, he said that he might be able to find a 2nd keyboard for me but I reckon will if feel of the keys still be the same aftre that? The keys are suppose to be "graded hammer stroke", meaning heavier at the bass and lighter at the treble but the technician said that the keys are all the same weight.

That gave me 2nd thoughts about him on the suggestion to change to a 2nd hand keyboard. What if he uses other brands or the feel of the keyboard is different after that. Then how?

Please advise. * confused *

wrong section.....

nevertheless, I thought I saw somewhere that says change of the piano keys only cost like $200 for yamaha clavinova....

$700 might as well buy a new digital piano

I called yesterday ... they are YAMAHA as well !!! and the same lady picked up the phone and asked me was I the same guy who called ... some time ago ... -_-'' ... she quoted me an estimate of 500 plus ....

Are all the keys set different in prices???

ok if you find your keys getting stuck, it could be a matter of the lubricating oil settling down to the bottom of the key. so all u need to do is do press every single key each time before u play, so as to re-lubricate the key pole.

try it and let us know if this solution doesn't result in any change.

in fact I do that almost everyday .... but still the "feel" didn't quite come back ... not all the keys are stiff ... they are just somewhere around the middle of the keyboard.

DO you know of anyone who can repair the syndrome instead of changing the whole keyboard?
