Difference in string gauge = re-setting up of guitar?

Hi all, I just got an Edwards Les Paul which was set-up to accommodate 0.10s, but I'm thinking of changing them to a light top/heavy bottom gauge. The difference in string gauge is 0.06(E), 0.06(A), and 0.04(D) while the G, B, and high E remain unchanged.

What I'm wondering is if this difference in string gauge warrants a trip downtown to have my guitar set-up again.

Thanks a lot in advance!

when u found a problem
no need to trip down town... when u found ur axe buzzing.. u can check the neck bow... turn the truss rod CW to straighten it ... so the string's got more space to vibrate... and set the Tune O matic bridge... so u can adjust the string height too :-D

I've tried a similar gauge change before and didn't require a setup.

But I'm pretty sure if you're changing from 10s to 11s, you'd probably need a setup. I had to do a setup when I did that to my strat.

just give the strings a change. tune it up and let the guitar sit overnight so the neck can get into shape with the new tension.

Check the next day to see how much difference it has caused. sometimes there is no need for a neck adjustment. You might have to raise the level on some of the bottom strings but it will be minimal. adjusting your intonation is a must. it will definately need some adjusting when you switch guages.
