actually any delay also can. For them, its about how to use the delay, not so much on the brand
a delay is unlike gain pedal(distortion/overdrive/duzz), where it aint entirely about tone. There are different characteristic/functions for different delay pedal and its capability. And depending on the user, how to use it, whether to add thickening effect, dotted 8th style or simply echo-ish effect/slap back effect etc, will have more impact over the tone factor.
Anyway, for a start, try the boss delay. Learning to use a delay will be far more fruitful then trying to find a delay with the right tone. Coz for most, the delay is all in the background adding that slight effect then to use it upfront in the mix of a song context.
