decent home recording bass for ard 500?

Hey guys, can anyone introduce me some basses that can be use for home recording yet has a decent look(might have to bring onto stage)? My budget is around SGD500, and I hope it would be something other than squire. Thank for the help.

alot of people have recommended the yamaha basses, I think there are a few secondhand ones being sold in the classified sections.

Ibanez SR series is a fantastic starter bass and active electronics give you some good tones to work with. I had an SR 506 a while back and absolutely loved it.
