I'm a guitarist looking to buy a decent 5 string bass for home recording, preferably less than 600 bucks. IIRC yamaha sells some for 399, so now im looking for what other possible options are there. So if brothers here could kindly throw some suggestions my way, it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't need anything fancy, just good playability and good quality.

bro, Davis GMC has an OLP 5-string- last piece. great punchy tone.

thx for the suggestion! But i dont think i wanna increase budget further, trying to go under and not over

IMHO for recording. Yamaha has a great value for money the BB series has great sterile tone that would fit well in any mix. either than that will be Fender Jazz.

+1 to lordie

i think you can get a used bb415 for that money and still have a bit left for beer. b-string is pretty tight.

never tried an olp fiver.

Yea those are the ones I was eyeing at first, nice prices but havent played one yet. Will try some these May during holidays. And hopefully Great Singapore Sale as well LOL.
