Daryl sucks

someone suspend this guy!!!!!!!! you sound like you eat fish and chips and drink english breakfast tea everyday!!!!!!!

ok this sounds much better than your band if one excuses the fake accent.

they are not bad. nothing much constructive to say. it's not bad. maybe you could lay off the doherty influence a little, but if it's natural don't force it

people always say that I always copy him but truth is, it is that what I'm speaking is naturel. I always speak in a fake accent when Im on stage or recording. Thats my nervousness showing. but yeah sometimes i think i should lay off a bit, but I cant help it, its completely naturel. Thanks for commenting guys!

At least you acknowledge it, most people would just claim it's just "the way they are".
Try varying the type of music you listen to, if you listen to "uber-british"(stuff where the vocalist has a really strong british accent)all the time, it'll probably rub off on you.

I think you should get rid of the hat too, pretty sure that choice of accessory wasn't a mere coincidence.

That's something you at least have control in.

can't finish listening to your songs, sorry. if you're doing it for yourself, then that's cool I guess. If you want people to start listening, then work more on coming across as 'natural'; and a little bit more musical depth wouldn't hurt.

uhm. Here's another acknowledement of me. I've been liking Pete Doherty since I was 15. I'm 18 now. I am not the trendy newcomer. And my dressing has always been styled after Pete Doherty. and so as my high fringe. And for the past 3 years, Ive been wearing Fred Perrys with drain-pipe jeans. Hats with jackets and boots. yeah so yeah heh. Im not angry or anything just wanted to tell people that. sorry if i hurt anyone.

Oh ya! I actually have that hat like Pete's wearing hehehehe. Yes I have an obsession with him, but that is outside the music field.hehe

Ok... so you admit to consciously ripping pete off not only musically, but you consciously rip off his fashion sense too. That doesn't really justify anything. And it definitely does not make you better than the "trendy newcomers" who decided to rip pete doherty off after you did.
I guess if you're contented trying to be someone else, then good for you.

hmmm. I don't know what to say. Yeah I dress like him. But I don't really think my music sounds like his. We're worlds apart, but If you say so, I'll see you in Glastonbury then heh heh heh.

-.-~

i would say more but this thread tells me that i suck ):

anyway i think you'll get that pete doherty rip off thing for a long time ha ha

-.-! yeah i guess so...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................shh

Ooh hello it's you!
Haha, ok I think your voice is quite smooth and nice. Not bad not bad, but I think you're eating some words, which makes the rhythm not very tight sometimes. And the layering messy sometimes, then again this is at most only a demo, if not a draft, right?

Anyway I don't quite agree with Blank. What's ripping off? Rip off has such bad connotations. Nobody can entirely rip off anything. You have your own personal inputs, you felt it you wrote it you sang it, the song is yours. You may sound like someone else but that's only called influence, correct me if I'm wrong. Unless you took out one whole chunk of someone else's lyrics and tune and called it your own now that's rip off. This isn't. The dressing part, well, hahahah I don't know what to say about that..

Good job, keep working on it! :):):)

hahaha Kudos to Sharon. Finally someone who understands the job of WRITING A SONG. hahaha thanks girl. And you keep up with your good job! And I'm not really good at mixing the multi-tracks together haha.

paynk: if you wanna put it this way, it really is easy to call something influence and play almost exactly like that band. but does the emulator deserve credit for it?

let's look at wolfmother. they have too strong a led zeppelin influence. are they interesting as a band? would one rather listen to them, or to led zeppelin? why are they still popular? cause it's hard as hell to emulate it anyway, and i guess they came at a time when people wanted to listen to another kind of led zeppelin. but popularity does not mean they are doing it completely right. they have received lots of crap about them 'ripping off' led zeppelin, which is right in the sense. the style of the music, the appearance, the whole attitude.

when we talk about the whole fall out boy/paramore trend that's still irritatingly going on, do we really adore those tween bands trying to emulate their idols so completely?

in the 50s and 60s, rocknroll bands often had to pay each other royalties cause they were 'ripping each other off', but that has been phased out in today's modern context.

then we get to the issue of most modern bands sounding the same. in my opinion, a band that would stand out and really matter is one that genuinely has something new to offer.

when we talk about original music, that's exactly what it must be, original. mr narcissist here does sound decent, but it is a fact that his music, his accent, and his appearance as an artist too closely resembles pete doherty's. that, and considering he isn't exactly british, with his londoner's accent, it is pretty acceptable to come to the conclusion that he is subconsciously ripping off doherty.

if he doesn't want to matter much, sure, he can be a doherty clone. what we are saying here is his music and entire package lacks an identity that is really his own.

actually i agree. when someone asks you what's your style you want to be able to say "oh my own mix of..." instead of "oh, pete doherty." you've got a versatile voice, so even though you really like doherty you should try something totally different like jason mraz or something, so that everytime you sing a song in a different genre you develop your own style. that's how artists are anyway, they have an idol that they want to emulate, but they dont lose themselves in the process. you want people to say 'omg that sounds great' because after a while 'omg you sound just like doherty' will get old:???:
