anyone follows up on this genre and how would u approach such styles...?

i believe as a guitar player we should all take "lessons" from diff styles... and i kinda like a lil bout this style... kinda reminds me a lil of steve vai.

well maybe u all can post up ref of diff guitarist who we dun usually talk about. (eg, slash, Saatch, hendrix....etc)

cheers

Check out
Chris Impellitteri

His techniques and stuff is amazing! He also did the Somewhere Over the Rainbow instrumental version.

Check out Guthrie Govan , Greg Howe, Richie Kotzen, Brett Garsed and even Steve Lukather. They mess with fusion stuff often.

Then check out Ron Thal, Mattias Elkundh and Christophe Godin for people who are fresh and innovative from the main "crowd". Might not be your cup of tea though.

I never understood why Malmsteen was the end-all to begin with... or anyone else for that matter. Its always good to expand and extend - reaching out and exploring. Though, its understandable that one only has so much time so if you can be a 'son of malmsteen' then okay, stick in that box... ya know what I mean?

Google up fusion by the way.

I think you mean Steve Lukather. I really second the recommendation of Guthrie Govan, his album Erotic Cakes is one of my all time favourites.

Although not exactly fusion, Derek Trucks is my pick for fresh, innovative playing. You can really hear that he does his own stuff, very unique, very awe-inspiring.
