Damsel (& kid) in distress...

Just sharing....

So I was at Peninsula yesterday evening with the wife & kids "hunting for/narrowing down" a 2nd guitar.
There was this mid-age AngMoh lady with two young kids in tow.
She has this "kan cheong" & exasperated look on her and rushing from store to store.
They were, I believe, looking for a Washburn starter pack for the elder kid (looks like he hasnt reached 10yrs).

Anyway, the 03 shops we went into, she was just behind us.
And by the questions she posed to the store ppl, I dont think (or maybe just my gut feeling) she knows what shes in for or that shes ever bought a gtr before or done her 'homework'.

The stores nearing closing for the day, and everyone pushing to close a sale, I hope she got a good deal and didnt get a 'lemon'

Not that I dont trust the store assistants mind you, but a third opinion wouldnt hurt.
Being a dad & a fellow guitar player, I wished I couldve have given some kind of assistance in picking the right axe for the kid.
Alas, I'm just not the 'kaypo' type (and the wife would've gimme that 'cold' stare too ... hehehe)

So, what could i have done? or What would you have done?

1) Ignored them, its their money, not mine

2) They didnt ask for my help, so i will just keep quiet

3) Everyone need to learn somewhere and getting cheated or lemon product, is actually one of the best way to learn/start learning

4) If it aint life threatening, i will walk away

5) I prefer helping old folks in need and animals.

6) I know too little to offer help.

7) Its just a guitar, nothing too timportant. T

If you were aware that she was clueless, why didn't you say anything to her at that point in time? There's nothing WE can do about it now, is there?

Well said. Unfortunately, that is a problem with Singaporeans at times. Probably this is well illustrated in "I Not Stupid", where the mother (Selena Tan) would always chide her children in "interfering" in other people's business

04 tired kids + 01 exasperated mom (whom I don’t even know) + 01 very loving overly-suspicious-at-times wife (who I know VERY, VERY well!)… that’s more than I can handle!

Anyway, we left while they were trying out a starter pack guitar (not sure of the brand tho).
All the more ‘painful-to-stick-around’ is when I overheard some patrons passing off boorish observations on the whole affair.
*BIG SIGH*

Yup.... too late to do anything. Maybe next time!
