CS-3 or isp noise decimator prob?

I have an isp noise decimator. It is suppose to clean up all the hum in my gears. But, there is still hum when my cs-3 is at full sustain. Is it the prob with the isp or the cs-3? I m using a laney practise amp and epi lp ultra II. Is there a place to mod my cs-3 to make it noiseless when at full sustain?

Hmm.

I suppose it ultimately depends on where you place your noise supressor pedal. Also crucial is how many pedals you have in your chain, and how you power them up... one-spot, etc?

I have a theory: perhaps you could try placing the nosie supressor pedal before all your pedals, such that any noise coming from the guitar itself can be cancelled out immediately before it hits any drive or modulation in your chain.

Anyone else have other suggestions? I'm just throwing a theory into the wind.

Not using one spot, just a normal adapter. I placed my noise supressor at the last in the chain.
I have just tried putting the noise reducer before all the other pedals. The result is lesser sustain and more feedback

Hmm.

Well fair enough. Okay what pedals do you use? lay them out, and see which one -quite lietrally- makes the most noise and see how you can re-arrange them into a chain which has the lowest noise as the end result.

may i ask, how do you power the pedals? using batteries or using a power supply and daisy chaining them?

From my experience, CS-3 can be very noisy especially if you put the knobs to full. Works best on clean but with distortion you have to hold back the knobs. My guess is with distorion pedals and cs-3 together even the isp decimator cant clean your sound.

yeah, ur setup is so noisy.. isp doesnt really work like that.. it doesnt just take away all the hum just like that, u gotta cut down on ur gain and stuff too.. isp is good, but it cant stand that much hum too..
try grounding ur amp, reducing ur gain and turning down those knobs on the compressor

I see it as improper setup of gear.

It doesn't matter of its just one pedal on only, or 2.. or 4... or 8 - you set them wrong, you get noise.

So it can be one BD-2 on only, but you max all your knobs into an overdriven amp - you could have noise there.

So post your settings and order of pedals. Then we can really help.

bd-2 max gain, tone very low. Guvnor gain max, vol low, the rest is my setting. Cs-3 max sustain, tone more towards the lows. Isp arnd centre

omg.. all max gain? why do u need so much gain and sustain?
usually when i use my isp, i set the other pedals to a setting that is nice and has a good amount of hum and noise, not too over the top, then i slowly set my isp until cancel out most of the hum and without much volume lost, usually around noon..

most likely the prob is with how ur setting ur pedals, btw do u stack the guvnor and the bd-2 and the cs-3 at the same time?

Hmm.

It seems like you have an excessive amount of expectations regarding your gear... no offense but you really should re-consider the amount of gain you have running through each pedal.. after all don't you find maxing out each pedal creating this mash of sound, rather than a clearly defined sound?

Furthermore, if you even wish to stack one drive pedal into another at such high gain levels, trust me.. no hum-cancelling device can save your butt.

and reduce the sustain setting on your CS-3.

Search for Compressors on SOFT, there was an good long discussion on it.

It seems you don't know how they work... or rather, you've been misled by the labelling of the knob.
