Creative Commons

I've adopted CC licenses for all my personal / non-commercial work. I'd heard about it years before, from a tech law point of view during the whole craze about intellectual property and patent wars, but thanks to softie ramblinglibrarian who contacted me sometime last year and reintroduced it to me for licensing my music.

(Shameless plug) I'm proud to be featured on the Creative Commons Singapore blog next to Lunarin and Inch Chua, again thanks to ramblinglibrarian http://creativecommonssingapore.wordpress.com/

So far, I think CC still has a long way to go in Singapore in terms of basic awareness. Most of us are ignorant of proper copyright law (including high level govt agencies, if you've heard about the latest MINDEF cock-up with the rights to a certain NDP song), much less this alternative form. But when collaborating with others online, having a CC license immediately presents a more open attitude towards the sharing and remixing of original content.
