from the looks of it, it looks like it's set in neck. the sales guy could have been confused between set in and one piece.

now I have to do deal with the strings out of alignment with the pups.

your strings and pickup pole pieces alignment is fine. it is not a must for strings to sit exactly in the middle of the pickup's pole pieces. the signal strength change is not that significant as compared to actually shifting the pickup height. it's more of a cosmetic issue but it doesn't really matter because when one plays, people usually use their ears more than their eyes to judge whether one is a good guitarist. and even if they do use their eyes, it won't be fixed to the bridge pickup to check if the pole pieces are aligned.

just like the artec and wilkinson hardware & pickups, cheaper and good quality

pickups are easy to install, color coding will guide you

tuners can be remove easily

pups just go beez help you install set up and clean your guitar for like 40 bucks also worth it.

nah you have to get most of the parts by yourself. i think tuners he might have but ain't locking. can give him a call first. you know how to find his contact? gotta make an appointment and the thing is he will sit down in front of you and take you through what he's doing so it's a very educational experience. be sure to watch how he works.
