Comments on the Ibanez SR Prestige

Those are excellent basses..! but really hard to find.

However, currently at Bass Central, there is a used Ibanez 5 string SGDR that is made in USA. Not really a looker, but i think it definitely sounds good and a collectors item.

Yeah right Reg. I think these are from the era that had an inlay plate at the last fret saying "USA Custom" or something like that right? They had some interesting wood combinations too, not just mahogany.

Im a big ibanez fan myself,.
i used to own a greco and yamaha before, then a fender jazz,..

but now im stuck with my k5 fieldy model,..
you guys should try it out. very nice..

BIG NEWS: There's talk on bass central that the ATK series will be released again this year. the two main models only tho, 4 and 5 string and lefty.

BIG QUESTION:

i found an Ibanez SR 996 burl top prestige 6 stringer on a japanese big website and it's priced very reasonably. does anyone know of this? it's the same as any other prestige SR ibanez, this one comes with burl mahogany top and gold plated hardware. it looks awfully sweet IMO. the only thing is that, i have not found talk of this bass on any forums other than japanese ones, which could mean:

the shop is gonna rip me off and send me another product
OR
this is a japan exclusive and if i manage to ship it in, that'd just be great.

how much do u think the ATKs will be here?

I think they will slot in somewhere around the SR5-series mark for the ATK4- and about the SR9-series mark for the more expensive model. Or so that's what I'm hearing.

I finally managed to take some shots of my pimped Ibanez SR 5005, which is still one of my all time favourite bass!

Body: Walnut Core with Alder wings

Neck: 5 pc Wenge / Bubinga neck with Wenge fingerboard

Individual bridge saddles

Upgraded electronics: EMG 40DC pups with U Retro Deluxe preamp.
