anyone here tried those transtube amps before?

are they good? sound like tube amps or not?

i tried one before, envoy 110 40watts i think... i felt that the distortion wasn't as kicky as the marshall 15w...

any comments on them?

well .. marshall got their own signature kinda drive tone ..

for me .. i like the peavey 1 ..

it all boils down how u play and wat u play lar .. seriously. .and wat u use to supplement ur tone

IMO peavey has an edge over other brand names when it comes to transistor technology which mimics a tube tone- Transtube they call it. peavey's effort in furthering this technology has been progressive over the years, culminating in the XXL model which by far, is the best transtube tone (out-classing some tube units in fact) i've come across- the reason i bought one.

on another note, if you are after other models in Peavey's range, check out:

*Bandit 112: aggressive on-board drive, acceptable cleans. Neil Zaza used this in some of his recordings.

*Studio Pro 112: a good all-rounder, agressive & warm settings available.

on another note, if you are not gonna swear by an amp's on-board drive because you prefer pedals instead, look for other brand names which have a 12" speaker on board, that goes for lesser. eg: Laney/ Randall

oh i see... $400 for a envoy110 40watts...

i see behind the amps... some are made in usa, but new ones made in china...

i can hear a diff man! china's ones midtones over-kill and bass is flat...

the usa ones now no more importing liao... went to sweelee to check... but the US ones were power man!

would any of u recomend amp modellers? assuming i skipped the amp buying part...
