Coated Strings...

both :) they last longer, that's for sure. my DR black coated lasted 11weeks. but it's not everyone's cup of tea, best to feel you friend's set before buying one, it's not cheap either...

for the rest of us who reads this: tell us where you heard about coated strings. sorry Stillborn- i'm not trying to hijack your thread but i feel it's useless to start a new thread for this one...

er...i heard it from here....

talked to my fren 'bout the coated strings, he told me he tried the black diamond ones n they had totally no tone...

are the DR ones much better than the black diamonds n augustine??

I dun really like black diamonds.. The black coating came off in a day. And the coating they uses, smell like some spray paint. I dun really dig that smell either. :?

my first encounter with coated strings is the Black Diamond set, sadly it doesn't last & it's ironic isn't it- the coating is supposed to enhance string life... the black coating flakes of very easily over the picking area & that's annoying...

if you wish to try a decent set, give the DR brand a go. the red coated version is a revised formula, it's not a flaky encounter unlike the BD brand. 8)
