Hmm well if kirk did win, noone might have died at all. I mean its so hard to explain but something totally different could have happened and they would have continued the tour.

But I think metallicas style woulda stayed at its best for longer. kirk is an awesome guy though.

Are you guys talking about the bet on who gets to sleep on which bunk? Was that Kirk or James? I think Kirk is an important part of Metallica just because he acts as a buffer between James and Lars. If you put a more egotistical band member in the equation, I think the whole dynamics of the band would not be the same, seeing that Lars and James are two pretty dominant characters that are the nucleus of the band. But all these 'what ifs' question can run endlessly. Metallica is where they are now irregardless of what people expect them to be. :wink:

My greatest respect to Cliff being a bassist. He plays like a lead, he is the man who stole all the limelight. For anyone can play the song 'Anesthesia' by Cliff, i think no other bassist can ever come up with such innovative bass lines. Cliff inspired me alot as a bassist, and what music really is.

Theres a part in ORion, i think about 6:30 where kirk plays, and then cliff comes in. people think its kirk still playing when its cliff! even guitar mags print the guitar tabs becuase they dont know its bass!

btw the 1st bassist was ron mcgovney. he didnt even last a year.

He's the one who inspires me a lot to be a bassist. His bass licks, scaling and solos really makes me want him to be my mentor.
