he he... it's a firm NO for me
'made in Japan' has very little influence on my purchase decision, i value performance rather than the country of origin, not to say it's a bad pedal but it doesn't serve my needs. my fav pedal right now is a made in China distortion & the most played guitar for me is a made in Indonesia model.

Line 6 POD Studio Arrives Today - 06/12/08

Apologies for the late reply. Essentially, the POD Studio products can do everything that the TonePort products can, but POD Studio comes with additional POD Farm software. This is as much as we know right now as the POD Studio will only finally debut in Singapore today!
What is POD Farm?
POD Farm is the new plug-in software platform that enables POD tone in virtually any DAW and is Mac® AU/RTAS/VST and Windows® RTAS/VST compatible for seamless integration with all major recording software applications including Pro Tools®, GarageBand®, Logic®, Cakewalk®/Sonar®, and more.
It's an upgrade that gives you ultimate flexibility with any amp and effects models that are standard features of your hardware - plus any additional models you've added on. For example, after you record a dry guitar signal you can audition different tones for it during playback without changing your original recording. This way you will always have the right guitar tone to fit the song without having to re-record that "perfect" riff. You can also stack multiple amp and effects models to further customize your guitar tone. You can even split your guitar signal and play through two full rigs of amps, cabs, effects and more to produce classic dual tone combinations or gorgeous new hybrids. Dual Tone presets provide tried-and-true tone combinations in an instant.

How do I get it?

- If you purchased the GearBox™ Plug-in as an Add-on from the Line 6 Online Store, then you may obtain POD Farm plug-in functionality at no charge (additional models not included) by running the Line 6 Monkey software utility, click Optional Add-Ons tab, click Activate Purchase button, then type refresh in the activation key window and click Activate button.
