CHINESE DEMOCRACY debuts at no. 3 on the billboard chart= EPIC FAIL

Was a big G'N'R fan here, totally disappointed when they sorta changed hands (break up is not the word to use here). And having to wait so long for Chinese Democracy to come out, i guess expectations naturally were very very high.

So i bought the album, first round of listening, very disappointed, when you mark it against the old albums. But upon 2nd listening, this album is actually very very good. Yeah there's no slash but this new lead guitarist whom i did even knew exist until now is good. And Axl's vocals are still solid. So take the album and the music as it is and you got something good going on there.

It's a little like the Zwan - Mary Star of The Sea (or smthing like that) album, not Smashing Pumpkins, but shit it was one of the albums that blew me away when i got it.

So sales for chinese democracy may not be high for the first week but many people were not really expecting it except for the hard core fans. I am pretty sales will slowly pick up once word starts to get around for this album. But who cares about the figures anyway? It's all music aint it. :P

Guys you need to calm down, seriously haha.

Don't expect the new GnR to be anywhere close to the old one. The feel is completely. For me, I approached it differently and I am totally in love with the Chinese Democracy (although part of me still struggles, "if only things were blah blah blah" kinda nonsense).

Long gone is the old school rock'n'roll. This is a totally whole-new GnR experience :)

I prefer to be less judgmental and listen to everything with an open mind.

Pop or rock, its all cool to me so long as it sounds good to my ears.

Some bands which i've heard which the singer cant even sing properly, well thats bad sorry...

Totally. I heard about this really cool band by the name of Bedroom Utensil. If you guys get bored of listening to GnR, try them. It is a refreshing experience

imho

Threadstarter = wrong
Everyone started hating GnR when one person somewhere said new GnR are sellouts, axl is an egomaniac, it took 15+ yrs to release the album and this is all they came out with, bring back slash izzy duff, and etc. i myself judge music for their music and not for their image or their personal lifes (but when they go missing or suddenly change to pop or smtng tts another story).

ive heard 'there was a time' solo and it was amazing, far beyond than old gnr and something unique. who cares abt record sales these days! if you still care abt record sales and only buy albums tt has alot of sales per week or per month whatever, you would just be following everyone else (mainstream radio listener, nothing wrong with tt tho)+ tt record artist must have alot of publicity too(no offense and theres nothing wrong with it either, dont like me labling you as that then dont bother continuing reading or replying.)

GnR has come a long way since slash , buckethead , axl and alot mre. dont like their music listen to others or else give them a break and listen to chinese democracy!

peace =)

HeyJoeILoveYourSis;790310 But said:
they were the best hard rock band arnd 1980's-90's. now hard rock is slowly fading and were not noticing. radio/mtv keep on playing rap rnb n crap. rock music do not need these publicity to live on. its fading away but its still alive. =)

peace.

nah...pls stick to your caracal and fire fight for the MAXIMUM listening experience. :D

if sales are down it's probably because they put their whole album on myspace which if for publicity purposes probably ended up with a lot of ripping and distributing - and also chased away old fans that didn't like their new sound!

Hey guys, you heard the news right? Chinese Democracy sold just 261,000 copies in the opening week, when their label was predicting a range of like 700,000++ sales. Sigh, no wonder axl rose wants the original gnr to reunite.

go sell that many records then talk man . I think the album is just majestic . so much for being a metal head , cause thats probably all you have up there

I didn't know Axl Rose wants the original GnR to reunite  I saw one of the videos at Youtube, Slash (and Duff? Not sure, forgot..) says the old batch of GnR MIGHT reunite at 2009 =/

i don't care what anyone says

in my own opinion, chinese democracy is shit

and if anyone has a problem with me having an opinion, then... you have a problem

it's just like those famous movie franchises. if the movie is good, people will watch the sequel, even if the sequel is crap

Regarding the first post,

I don't know why the numbers are lower than expected. I think it got affected greatly due to piracy. Believe it or not, there's almost everyone that has their latest songs, 1 or 2 of them at least. Who would buy the album after hearing that only few of the songs are good, but the rest are crappy.

I personally bought the album because I am such a great of Axl (even though he's retard and arrogant..lol). And I already expected the album to be less grandeur after listening to at least 1/3 of the songs that floods into the web for free before the album was released.

I felt that due to this, the album has lacked the element of surprise. People around the world has heard that most of the song did not meet their expectations of the Old G n R. Thus when released, only those who really like Axl will decide to buy it still. Won't you agree with me?

I know that it has made many of us to think that the album is a failure, or didn't meet the expectations. However, I just see it as a new direction of Axl Rose in terms of his musical creations, and we don't really favor it this time. Come to think of it, isn't making music about trial and error? It's difficult to please everyone too..

But that could just be my opinion. I don't know about the rest of the soft members.:)

Well, I don't know. I used to be a fan of GNR music because of Slash and Duff guitars. But this album no longer have them, I really feel very disappointed with the music when I sampled at HMV. And I still prefers the vocal of Axl Rose in their older albums.

Pardon me to say, Velvet Revolver really trashes the current GNR. Again this is my personal taste.

FACTORS OF LOW SALES OF GNR's LATEST ALBUM (IMO of course):
1.Piracy(hey i do *ahem*download*ahem* songs that are not worth buying, but I still purchase songs/albums that are worth it to me)

2.Gunz and Rozez, not a very likeable/famous band to youngsters who roam the internet nowadays, they'd rather hear something they're more familiar with like Chris Brown or Rihanna(Believe me, I'm a kid, i know it)

3.Not many(but still many) music appreciative people(or maybe I should say instrumental appreciative) people. Most of the mainstream songs nowadays mostly consist of bands with vocalists with unique voices(take Maroon 5, Rihanna, The Great Escape).

4.THIS FACTOR ISN'T REALLY THAT PROVEN TO BE TRUE, ITS JUST AN ASSUMPTION EVEN FOR ME Parents nowadays have a negative image about GnR. So you get the point and how it may lead to being a factor for low album sales. That is if you're smart enough to comprehend and think ahead.

Now...

THE REASON WHY I SEE HUMANS ARGUING AND FLAMING EACH OTHER IN THIS THREAD
(supposed to be funny but tends to be lame at times):
1. Haven't had their megamac yet
2. K i kinda feel that that was lame, but anyway, sorry for last part going off-topic.

As far as i know, i've not mentioned the word greater at all. Please get your facts right. Sorry if i sound rude.
