i only did the immigrant song

wat like the drums?
i can't remember it was an entry lvl set with 2 entry lvl rides. thts it. it was a some metal snare i think

bro blurred. actually expected to hear more crazy complex drumming from u haha.. anyway, the recording sounds good leh. where did u guys do it?

ask badger, we did it in SAE.

gambatak - why? i dun play alot most of the time. and if u listen to the song it doesn't need anything complex, it needs to be driving and tight. u need to know when to pull your punches. but tht said i've never played alot of complex stuff

ahaha. understand what u mean by that song not needing the complex stuff.

correct me if im wrong, arent u the guy who did the clinic at themusiclab? i wanna hear u play harder stuff lah..

hehe.

Huh? Mics you mean?

Hi-Mid Toms - 2x SM81
Floor Tom - (I forgot)
Hi-Hat - SM58

Drumkit is some Tama Swing Star Custom.

Cymbals:
Zildjian - Ride and Hi-Hat
(Forgot the Brand) - Crash/Ride

Recorded through Pro-Tools HD Control 24.
Mixed on Pro-Tools HD with McDSP, Oxford and Bombfactory Plug-ins.
Mastered through SSL (Solid State Logic) Console using the famous SSL on-board compressor. (Also used by RATM)

P.S. I tuned the toms. First time I ever done it. Is it ok? Lol.

some of the crash sounds like they were triggered from module. the toms can tune a little lower to mix into the song better.

there are quite a few spots where tighter syncopation would make the song more polish.

the guitars are a little too loud. especially during the solo. but funny thing is due to the choice of notes, it doesnt stand out.

very good overall.

thanks soft.
yah i agree with the syncopation bit, some parts were alittle loose.
with the toms tunning i dunno man, some people like to play under the band and not stand out. some drummers like their tunnings abit higher so they "sit" on top. diff ways of approaching it i guess, but ur insights are valid.
thanks again

hey dude not bad but i think can be tighter, quite a few parts where you stumbled slightly. it comes out quite obvious on the recording :) but work at it it's good! i suggest more punch to the bass drum though, these sort of songs need more low end from your kit.

yah i didn stumble abit hor, i need soo much polishing. yah the bass drum is actually low in the mix. i was hitting pretty hard.

hey but take heart! i love your guitarist i think your band is great! and the recording quality is just wow. but yeah. haha if you can mix it a bit more...
