I noe ds1 is gd. Bt the metal zone.. Act i tot of gettin tat one too.. Bt tonite i look up the forum it's lyk ther seems to pretty much bad comments abt it.. Difficult to tweak, mosquito sounds n all.. Is ther any pedal tat can b versatile enough to play alt rock, metal and j rock?

Check the buy/sell , lots of good cheap disto pedals there to be had for under $100.

I suggest if you're not too sure of your preferential tone, get a used pedal. That way you won't lose much if any if you wish to sell.

get one second hand cheap at 50 bucks and mod it. World of difference there.

if u like Brutal Death MEtal or Metal then buy the

- ' DIGITECH ' death metal pedal.
it has a really brutal sound.
but some people dont like it though.

i believe a dedicated metal-type distortion unit would address your intense distortion needs. the regular distortion boxes (eg: BOSS DS-1) are milder for general application. but a highly affordable pedal (it's not even $60 new) with great tones to boot is this one (i bought one...):

As i said, modded Metalzone....the dist knob becomes usable...surprise!

Or a DS-2 turbo distortion if you must have something really cheap...yet gritty.

BD-2 is also nice...more of an overdrive but the gain can actually almost hit distortion territory.

Would like to recommend higher end pedals to you but i think they'll be out of your budget 8)

no. it's not intense enough for metal. if you wish to attain such intensity, go for a metal-type distortion instead.
