I am intending to change my Ibanez RG nut to a Graphite Nut. But im not sure where is the best place/shop to do so? GC? Guitar workshop? Standard Value? Any recommendation in terms of price and workmanship?

I think, you could purchase the graphtech graphite nut from Zen Guitarwerkz. It'll cost under or ard $30. And maybe do and installation at TYMC with a basic set up which might cost u below or ard $80.

There're many other options. However, I'm only aware of Zen Guitarwerkz selling graphtech products.
Might wanna throw on some string saver saddles for ur bridge and locking tunners too! Sort'f a full upgrade experience.

Just a suggestion of what I would do in ur position. Anyways good luck with your quest for an upgrade =) hope this helps!

IIRC, TYMC also offers the installation of graphite nuts including setup for $80 excluding cost of the nut and strings. But they told me it is not a Graphtech one, so it should be relatively cheaper. Good luck.

Mike @ SV has graphite/ bone nuts- swapped my plastic nut on my SZR520 here, with a bone version. mike even looked into the necessary re-set up after the installation:

Did a change of nut AND saddles to graphtech plus set up at maestro for under $80. For an acoustic guitar, that is.

hmm... why you swap the nut?
The original plastic nut used by ibanez is made out of a special custom formulated plastics designed
to enhance the sustain, while being slightly mellower in tone to bone nuts.
Unless you like the brightness of bone nuts ....

Me, i have a preference for brass : )

hmmm the last i checked at SV they didnt have graphite nuts... only bone was available thats how my prs ended up with a bone nut instead of a graphite one

the nut type doesn't contribute to stability, it's about the slots lubrication & filing in this consideration. if memory serves me right, it's $30+/-

despite whatever manufacturer claims & considerations involved, sometimes things don't work for you on a personal level. maybe this is one of the reasons why i still don't own a JEM.
