Change strings.

Buy gauge 8 1/2 if youre afraid of pain. Buy 12 if you're hardcore =).

12? why 12? go 14, man!

Only guitar I can think that can "tahan" anything above 12 is a Fender.

Ibanez Wizard necks are snapping at guage 12, and f**king up at guage 11's pfft.

You guys are so damn fortunate!! I'm a lefty and if a string snaps, only way is to stop the show and restring it fast :smt091 cos I can't borrow guitars from other bands :(

But I think my karma is pretty good cos out of the 20+ gigs I've played, I've not snapped a string  I can't bring a backup guitar too cos too much gear to carry...I NEED A ROADIE!! *lol*

As for strings, I think it'd be good to start out with 9s...not too soft. When I switched to 11s on my jag (this short scale fender can take 13s with no issues!), I overstrained my arm and it ache for a week :( Now I switch to 10s

Eh Elias. Wen u change gauge, did u adjust the intonation? Or just change from 9 to 12. Cause i got a pack of 10s. And i dunno if i shld change it. Scared it affects the intonation leh.

Personally, I'd check my intonation whenever I change gauge. When I switch from 9s to 11s, I did adjust the intonation a little, but when I switched from 11s to 10s, the intonation wasn't affected, so I didn't adjust it. Anyway, you can just do a quick check if your intonation is out by playing chords on the higher frets and see if it sounds weird. Alternatively, you can do a proper intonation check if you'd like.

One thing you should check if you change string gauges is the curvature of the neck. If you switch from light gauges to heavier ones, the neck might bow a bit more due to the tension, so you might need to adjust the truss rod to relieve the curve. Neck bows might cause fret buzz.

Say any idea if i send to gutar shops to adjust, how much they will charge?

Change strings + adjust intonation.
