Change strings.

changing during / a week before performance abit too late... the string is still fresh, tight and unseasoned... might not be too comfortable to play with and takes more effort to bend. woulden't reccomend it. Instead, bring another guitar, with seasoned strings as backup.

MMM? 1 week still not enuff? Damn i got jammin in 3 days. always scared that it snaps, everytime before jamming. bahhh

eh.. do you guys bring spare guitar for performances incase strings snap?

I dont have a spare guitar even if i wanted to bring one. Hahahhahaha...

Um, yeah... i'd probably change strings 3 - 5 days before a gig. Gives strings time to settle in, and still looks shiny and new when you gig. Whahahahahaha....

Just for insurance sakes... In case the other guitar snaps or smth... And if both guitars snap, check your karma.

once my string snapped in middle of 1st song during gig. was the most panicky i'd ever been. my vocalist pleaded with the audience and some kind dude lent me his. though his strings were black (from rust i think). but cannot complain. :S better than nothin.

I usually change strings about 2 - 3 days in advance. Give it some play time for the next day or two, and all will be fine. Still advisable to gig with a backup guitar, if you have one that is. Life can be a bitch when your floyd loses one string in the middle of a song.

heh. i still remember jamx the year b4. one band was very very suay. string break, change guitar. he wanted to borrow mine but our band had tuned down so it wasn't easy for him to work with. then power supply went off.. they had to repeat their song 3 times.

well having said that, the guitarist's "tapping with my guitar on the floor" was pretty cool. although he didn't do it perfectly.

so does anyone here have any experience with tremsetter? its supposed to keep the other strings in tune on a floyd when one string snaps rite? any tips to share?

I bought one not too long ago. Asked quite a number of people about what they think about it being installed in a floyd rose equipped guitar. Not many positive opinions. Reasons being, the floyd will become pretty stiff, and you'd lose the flutter. Verdict: Don't install it if you're a hardcore floyd user. It does a better job in vintage trem systems.

hey this is my first time changing strings. what sort of strings do i get?

Try out different gauges of strings, either at guitar shops, or a friend's guitar. Find out which you like best, and then string it.

Depends.

Lighter guage for more playability, heavier guage for better sounds...

Personally I use guage 10.
