Care For Bass

Yeah... maple is pretty hard and the lighter fluid will evaporate before the maple has a chance to absorb it

Maple is almost always sealed with a clear coat, so unlikely its going to absorb much of anything unless the finish is worn down anyway :) Lighter fluid is used commonly as it works well as a cleaner, and obviously doesn't contain silicone, nor leave any sticky/oil residue. It also doesn't contain water, so it wouldn't cause unsealed wood surfaces to swell. Works quite decently for rust removal too, unlike WD40, which makes things oily and messy.

silicone SUCKS. DO NOT USE PLEDGE ON YOUR GUITAR

No, u just need to clean the gank off after it builds up. Not much difference from how u maintain the gloss finish on the body of your instrument.
