dude, these 2 guitars are as different as guitars can get. A strat and a lespaul are worlds apart.
I understand if its between a tele and strat, but a les paul and a strat? The decision should be easy to make man.
Think of what you want, need and like then buy it.

If you want it to e more of the "twangy" sound, get the Strat.
But if you want a more warm and mellow sound, go get the Les Paul, like Slash
I tried both, and personally, I liked the Les Paul better!
Mine is a Gibson Les Paul 1996 Standard..
