I've been goggling about the above subject matter...however some of the explanation and answers I've got were too techie from my POV..am not a technical person..:)

I owned a PRS Cu22 with a 5-way rotary..I'm keen to install the P-rails to replace my neck pup..a Dragon II..could this be done and do I get the the whole P-rails tonal spectrum ?

Thanks to fellow softies experts for your answers...

did a quick check... got this off a HC forum.

1 - neck
2 - inside coils split in parallel
3 - inside coils split in series
4 - outside coils split in parallel
5 - bridge

The 5 way selector is.. quite an unconventional arrangement.
If you throw in the P-rails with same arrangment.

You get the rails or the P90s mixed with with your bridge pickup
depending on whether you're using the inside coil or outside coil

Or...

you can just ditch the 5 way selector
and go with a (Les paul stye)3 way with push pull knobs for the coil splitting. thats is provided the 3 way switch fits without any futher mods.

ah thanks seekz..

for the 3 way switch with the push pull coil splitting, do i get a P-90 or similar close single coil tone from neck...nothing beats a sg-coil neck fender-ish type tone..

i am greedy..hehehe wanna lotsa of tones from my guitar

The single coil tones aren't very authentic, its a "blade" single coil.
So if you have any experience with any other kind of "blade" singles
or hot/cool rails coil splitted, you'll know what I mean. But still has identifiable single coil tone lah, just nothing awesome...

The P90 tones are much better, but not as fat as a real P90.
other than that no complaints.

humbucker tones, hmm.. a little dark for my taste.
I'll label it like a 59 pickup thats a slightly dark sounding.
