Cables.

That's right guys, there's no hype at all...the 'telephone cable' is the one of the most overlooked missing element in the tone department!

From Hendrix to Jimmy Page, Kurt Cobain (yes, they found a 'telephone cable' hidden in his Jaguar tolex case) to Keith Richards...there is no doubt to its vintage tone!

And good news, fellas...I've just got one in my posession. And it's for sale! I've decided to give the Softies a headstart before auctioning it on the Chicago Vintage House website. Seen here with my Keith Richards-inspired Fender '72 Custom Tele (with the real 70s' Seth Lover humbucker)...the legendary cable...

The fine white printed words on the cable say 'Made in Korea. Low capacity cable'. Definitely highly collectible compared to the Made in China products we see today!

BID CONFIDENTLY! STARTING PRICE IS A LOW S$40! Paypal accepted.

P.s yeah, it's a joke in case you didn't realise it  But the 70s' Seth Lover humbucker part is real!

thor666 donch bump the threads!

why would you want that cable for?

Better to bump an old relevant thread than start a new thread.

I just want to test out coiled cables. Yes, some say you could do that by turning down the treble, but I just wanted to get one and hear for myself if it's the same difference or there's some additional goodness from using a coiled cable.

Wokay...I've just tested the coiled and straight cables by plugging them straight into the amp. Test results show that the coiled cable cuts down the highs a little, hence, more noticeable lows but somewhat, more 'nasal' tone. I have a feeling that it's due to the additional length of the coiled cable (think about it, if you uncoil the cable, it's so much longer...hence the 'low capacity' print on the cable).

bro thor bro...

here's how to do it....

1. go simlim and buy some alligator clips and capacitors.
10pF to 100pF or even higher if you want.

or if you can find it, get a variable capacitance trimmer. It looks like a little trimmer pot but is for capacitance.

2. open the jack plug and clip the alligator clips to the hot and the ground.
3. clip the capacitor one by one and check out the sound.

capacitance in terms of cable speak is the capacitance between the hot and the ground. by connecting a small capacitor to these two points you're simulating additional capacitance and all it does is to bleed em treble to ground.

If you like what you hear, then you can permanently solder a capacitor from the volume pot hot to ground.

No need for em mojo cables!!!
