buzzing

....maybe to remove the buzz, a slight bow is neccessary... but then again, we do not know how or at where his guitar neck bows so leaving it there, assuming that it was there....

Werewolf, this is what I'm talking about. We don't know. So how can we just give advice based on what the thread starter said?

I think we have to be careful with what we recommend. You solution might work for you, but slash might not like it, and it might cause more problems, more buzzing.

oh ya... quite true... hehe paisei...

must see then will know...

slash: maybe best to bring your guitar down to a guitar shop and ask a tech how the buzzing problem can be fixed

Dude, really got nothing against you... just be wary how you give advice. If you gave it to a more experienced person, cool, but to a newbie? He might just turn the truss rod the other way or force a litttle too hard and there goes the neck.

Also, setup is highly personal.

With that in mind, feel free to post man... give your advice (with disclaimers if need be) freely and generously.

Its good seeing someone trying to contribute so much to SOFT.

Anyway, I started out learning guitar works and tech this way too. ;)

yes, can watch while they doing... but a bit presurizing for them eh? lol...

setting up guitars with floating bridge? should be ba... they're quite experienced

If your guitar still buzzes after setup, do open it up and check if there are any bees stuck inside. If no, the tech wasn't doing his job right.

yes.. my friend just got his strat-copy setted up last week at luthers and i followed him to collect it...

there was heavy buzzing at certain odd frets that was non-exsistent before the set up... we told the local tech there and he agreed to try to fix it on the spot... we waited and got it back after a while but the buzzing shifted to other frets this time... so he concluded that it was due to lousy fret work...

and... he agreed to fix it (as in do some fret work)... at no extra charge...

so kind! just collected the guitar today and it was woots! PERFECT!!! muhuhahaha... lucky friend of mine...

Actually, not to put down the tech or what, but really, if its a simple job, you only need a couple mins. :)

If you are going to ask any tech setup a floyd rose style trem, please check the following.

IF you are using Ibanez Edge/Lo Pro/Gotoh Floyd, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure the tech knows of the tiny locking screws inside the trem posts. Lest they don't know, twist and break that little screw.

Next.... make sure they setup to pefect float based on the baseplate or visible knife edge as per in the floyd rose setup thread I did.... I've been to a number of setups and they set it to "perfect" float wrongly.

im using ZR tremolo. yeah do setup include of dressing the frets? i dunno whether should i send my guitar for a proper setup, i always had the feelings that pp are thinking this to me "wa this guy barely know how to play the guitars, yet own such a good guitar, dunno how to play still buy so good for wat, still wan good setup somemore "hmm

borrowing this thread, i do have buzzing. but the problem is that when i didn't on the distortion feature which comes with the amplifier, there's no buzz. but when the distortion is on, it starts buzzing, though not very loud.

when i apply pressure with my hands on either the tuning pegs or the bridge (metal parts), there's no more buzzing. when i release, there it goes again. is the buzzing inevitable or is there something wrong with wither my amplifier or my guitar?

P.S: my amplifier is a 10watt peal practice amp. my guitar is a washburn WR120 series.

Thats not the buzz we are talking abt here. The buzz we are refering to is physical buzz, the one where the string is rattling against the frets so that there is a buzz.

Yours sound like hum, and it prob is since when you touch (ground) the metal parts, the hum goes away. There are many things to consider when talking abt grounding hum... but first thing, how much distortion do you use?

try converting ur amp's electrical plug to a 3-pin instead of a 2-pin if u haven't done that alreayd... earthing it should keep the humming in check
