Buying Guitar ON LINE ffrom USA or UK

Hi there, just would like to contribute to the thread.

About 2 months ago, I bought a Samick (made in Korea) Epiphone Emperor II online from ebay USA. Shipping cost me $200 and additional 7% tax I had to pay upon receiving my guitar.

Long story short, it's better to have shipping insurance if you are intending to buy higher end guitars. A lot of things can go wrong during shipping. I would be a bit skeptical if they were to ask me to send photocopies of my credit card, trust paypal more :).

On a side note, I didn't knew davis were willing to ship guitars from outside of Singapore. Does it apply to any brands of guitars?

Regards
Adi

guys,

when buying online, NEVER do wire transfer, telegraph transfer, money order or any form of transfer that sends money. purchase through credit card and paypal is the best way.

when doing your purchase, don't ask the merchant to under declare value because that is the sum that will be insured, i.e. if you purchase a guitar for $5000 and ask them in declare $500 in a hope of paying less GST, in an event of loss or damage, insurance will cover you $500 max. it's not worth the risk.
