Buying a used piano or clavinova? (for 6yr old beginner)

Hi there,
I am planning to buy a clavinoa or used piano for my 6yr old boy-a beginner.
Anyone able to advice on below qns?
1) Any reputable, reliable shops to recommend?
2) What is a reasonable price to pay for used piano for a beginner?
3) Does it make more ($) sense to buy a clavinova, then upgrade to piano later or go straight to getting a used piano?
(btw,i have 2 other younger kids and I do hope to learn piano myself....)
4) Since I do not play the piano, how do I 'check' the product that I am interested in buying?

Appreciate if anyone can assist to offer some advice....
Thanks!

Mummy jes...:)

Are they learning classical piano? If yes, then go straight for an acoustic piano, not clavinova.

Hi,

An answer to your question number 1:

I'd recommend Renner Piano at Peace Centre. My sister bought an upright piano there last year, and the woman was very helpful in helping us choose a suitable model.

Cheers.

A brand new GEM PRP800 cost $1300 only(Italy Company),light portable but also Piano Touch.Next time wanna sell also easy to transport.Compare to Acoustic Piano the key are not too hard for Kids, somemore got extra 20sound the Kids won't get boring..Piano need tunning, transport, space, disturb ppl when practice....that's why Digital Piano have the advantage.
