"build" a guitar, where to get parts?

AzNjT, I think you need to hop down to GC and have a chat with me. there is more to wood than meets the eye. the reason why I ask you to come down is cos I dont go on msn that often these days anyway.

the guy wearing the hat. probably the laziest worker around . actually, I'm more like helping out but I'm considered a working staff there. I'm always waiting for someone to walk in, sell really cool Ibanez RG and be the first to get it before anyone else :lol:.

switchcraft jacks are reliable jacks. I always replace the jacks of my guitars with them.

next time say hi to me la. I dont really meet softies there but I do recognise some people by their guitars. thats the result of viewing Gallery 2007 too often :lol:

yea man....i always get the switchcraft jacks, usa crl switches, and the cts pots from there. i dunno which one you sia dude....haha...i'm usually there on weekends cos nothing to do sometimes i'll just go to peninsular take a look around see got anything i need.

ohhh. I was there. I said it looks nice. I was behind the counter. if I'm not mistaken, you were with 2 other friends right?

anyway, straying off topic. the topic on wood is quite a huge one. however most importantly, the wood must be of good quality. I've walked the 'cheap' wood path before. yeah, so the paint job was nice but so what? the wood had 0 tone coming out of it. I was sure I bought an alder body then. the grain was definitely alder wood. well, sounded nothing like alder though.

bottomline is, if you want to customize a guitar, make sure you use good wood to get the best results.

added already. but as I said, I super no life one. I hardly go on msn these few days. I should be there on sat morning before 430. on weekdays if I have the time, I'd be there after 6.

however, I just dont like having q&a sessions & price discussions. it irritates the crap out of me. its not like I dont want to share my knowledge la, its just that for some reason people like to ask me the same old questions regarding boss pedals, Fender guitars and Ibanez. quite sick of them since I've repeated my answers again and again. I prefer having conversations where information is shared 2 ways.

anyway if you dont like allparts, can always ask Kelvin to order parts from other companies. good wood aint cheap. thats the key thing.
