Yes cover songs are allowed, though brownie points will be given to your band if you could do an original that was inspired by the theme 'BREAKOUT'.

The tentative audition date is either on the 3rd or 10th July. Venue has yet to be confirmed though it will be somewhere in the East.

For all band members
- Full name
- Age
- Contact No.
- Email address
- Leader of the band (indicate beside full name as this person will be the main contact person)

eer.. ok i'm the leader of a band.. I'm 18, we are all musicians in our band( basist and guitarist attends practical guitar lessons in yamaha and cristofori while me and the 2nd guitarist learns ABRSM music theory and we're in a music related course, sonic arts in rp for me and Diploma in music and autio technology for my 2nd guitarist) i've already met the criteria STATED in the post where I have to be below 20.. the problem is with my drummer..... everyone in the band is below 20.. except for him. Well he is still a student in RP,self taught for drums, pretty kick ass guy but he's 22...

so yea We want to make this a stepping stone for us as we just formed 3 months ago and we already have 2 originals. so.. to clarify everythnig up, must only I, the leader of the band who is registering for the competition leading a 5 men band Which you did not state needs to be in Any age group be below 20 or must Everyone be below 20..

1] If only I have to be 20 which I lead the band into the competition even if one of my guys are not below 20, ok you can say that we're as good as in =D

2]If not, and everyone has to be below 20 in the band then please proceed to read

Yea even if the final call is that everyone has to be below 20, is there a way to appeal for leniency for my band whereby our beloved drummer who is 22 does not have any music experience, was self taught, (god knows how he learns drums until now when he deosnt even have a drumset at home) and is still a student studying in Republic polytechnic and has no clear advantage or disadvantage in the band apart from his age,background or music experience?

Although,I am fully aware that this theme is directed at youths for youths to discover talents and get experience. Would you waste 4 potentially talented members in the band just who wants to have a grand memorable debut for the band just because of one minor criteria we did not meet?

I believe that there are no alternatives in this situation. We are NOT willing to find a temp drummer or kick him out just because of this opportunity for a band debut at Breakout! 2010. We either go there as a whole band, or we wont play at all.

Hi Legenandary!

Unfortunately, we won't be able to accept your bands for BreakOut. Although we'd love to take you especially since you have original compositions to offer, it wouldn't be fair to the other bands, many of who are much younger, to compete against a band with members older than 20, who would naturally be more mature personally and musically.

There are other band competitions going around that you would be able to qualify though. Usually they put up posters at music stores like Swee Lee, Yamaha etc. We wish you all the best

Recently I've emailed the contact claire for registration but it seems that she has stopped replying half way and i am unsure if my band is registered . Could you ask her to get back to me ? Thanks .
