It used to be that way, mind you. However, Bollywood grew up, got out of this time warp and became very hip and cool in the process. Even the British thought so too! No longer do Bollywood dancers and actors weave in and out of just trees! Now, they dance their way in and out of Scottish Castles, Swiss Alps, Norwegian Fjords, New Zealand Glaciers, Mount Fuji and Niagara Falls, and future locations include the Esplanade and the Taipei 101 tower. This is a Geography lesson on an MTV style video!
Recent scientific studies have shown that Bollywood Dance is both aerobic exercise and dance, story telling and self-expression all rolled into one. This is the only dance form which teaches you how to flirt without getting you arrested - No matter how x-rated your bodily gyrations may be, it is all art!
Bollywood dance moves are highly evolved -- besides having emerged out of thousands of years of traditional indian and folk dance forms, it marries 3-5 dance forms at any one time, borrowing its concepts from classical indian,folk indian, rural and bhangra, fusion and modern western dance and keeps evolving. Ultimately it becomes a party dance, a workout and a perfect way to de-stress.
Finally the best news of all: forget being cooped up in Villa Wellness and being called a banana by a famous folically challenged celebrity. There's no restriction on desserts and high cal food for the 10 weeks that you are signed up for this course. Nya nya nya nya nya.
Slow metabolisers take note: you can attempt to consume the highest calorie desserts and/or buffets before a Bollywood dance session because the moves are hot enough to work the calories off!! (But in moderation please!) In the same vein, high metabolisers, read this at your own risk: come to a Bollywood class without having eaten and you may just disappear into sheer insignificance after the class.
