hi

kinda sloppy but nm listen alot to SRV or atleast gary moore ..ignore the fast scales U DONT HAVE TO APPLY fast scales on blues not really necessary ..the bendings and vibratos more important..if u do it wrong ull sound rock than blues.:)

on the other hand, you know guitarcritic, you have malmsteen shred a blues solo and people hail that outrageous burst of speed & technique as WOW!!!! 8O

CK, you're a heavy metal blues slinger. The sloppiness aside, as you have mentioned, I hear a great deal of emotions going into this track but nearing the half-way mark, I hear that emotive bending & sustaining turn into something more of a ... sort of blues requirement - you sound like you are doing it because, well, heck, its blues, it HAS to be that way.

2:54 onwards, I hear you trying to play differently... trying to spice things up. I suppose the blues pentatonic scale has you in the corner.. you sound quite bored repeating the licks/ideas.

If you need more notes to play with you can try adding in the b7 note @ the right chord...

If you need mroe notes, you can play chromatic lines - practising them well can retain the bluesy feel, albeit kind of... jazzy.

If you need more variety, you can try playing in different rhythms, rather than the straight up blues-rock timing you jammed to. Think swing? You can try that.

If you need yet more variety, there's always double stops and triads to mess around with....

Lots of stuff. Doing the blues progression is insanely tough IMO. I find people going thru the blues prog in a manner that has been covered to death by countless other guitarists... perhaps that leads to a desire to hear something fresh - I enjoyed your attempts to do so, they are good tries!

Thanks for the comments guys, anymore?

Yeah I meant it to be a high gain blues
like what gary moore and walter trout do...I love the high gain style

although theoretically I know there's lots of notes I can use, like
the mentioned b7 or even adding Maj3 => Mxolydian blues

and
Previously I even tried using funny things like pentatonic substituition
or diminished chords.....which are really interesting,

but then, back to my basics, couldn't even manage minor and major pentatonic well enough, like cannot justify doing the "more chim" things.

even for the fast scale runs and usual blues licks, I don't even want to take them for granted now (n vibrato, yah thanks for reminding)

So I keep it back to the basics, but I will surely re-visit the "more notes" option when I am more satisfied with the basics, that's what I am thinking right now......

hi

Hi

I like your positive attitude keep on ROcking btw im still working on my blues jam at home i will post well im not that so called "CHIM" lol just sharing with peepz comments most welcome hehe :) btw i see potentials in you're not a beginner tho should be easy for you to progress in your licks etc so keep it up!

CK, I'm not sure if I would put my thumb down and make the statement, "MUSIC MUST BE LEARNED FROM THE BASICS OF XXX"

Whats there to "justify" if you can handle it?

I understand we don't do sweep picking if we can't alternate pick - techniques be minded, physical skills be minded.

But...

What qualifies the min/maj penta as anything "basic"?

I find playing an Indian scale AWFULLY difficult... tried those lessons on Guitar Technique Magazine.... MAN. However, to the fellow player who is an Indian, lives in India, those scales may be second nature to him.

Is the Indian player more advanced than me?

If your purpose was to go back to the roots of blues, yes, your take would be a poor representation of that style.... but if you wanna do your stuff, go for it. Being bounded is bad, though... it can be good lah... hehehe

great stuff!!! I dun really care abot technice and stuff...all I know is I got a real kick-in-the-ass feeling when listening to it !

WooHooo!!!
