Blackstar Amplifiers

I just tried out a Blackstar S1-45 at woodworks sound engineering (it's in the basement of peninsula plaza) and was very convinced to get one. Anyone else here has tried this amp and what are your opinions. I'm also considering the S1-100 .

Was blown away at the versatility of this amp as well as the features on the Blackstar amps.

well the thing that blew me away was that its made in korea. Koreans are well-known for their excellent QC which beats "made in USA" anytime.

Ahahaha ized bro thats abit over the top lah, but i do agree that many usa big names have promised and cost so much yet fell short in the end. Well blackstar amps are indeed cool that is big in attitude, big in tone, big in value, but don't burn a big hole in ur wallet! Another players favourite in the making i presume!

squirrel, i think i saw you when you were trying the amp.
I've to agree with you that amp brews good tone!

well, 4 those other than brits or unc Sam prods, what they lack mostly is stamina. I had tried some of those in stores & jammin studios new & they sound decent, but try it again in a few months & all sorts of gremlins comes out of d speakers..

Blackstar

I think Blackstar amps are reasonably priced and tone is great. Better than most well known amps of the same range like Lany,Vox,Marshall and Ibanez. Blackstar amps are excellent when using effects. I'll be getting one soon, I mean the one which costs more than $1K. Drop by at Woodworks and hear for yourself.

Looks like you have done your research! Blackstar amps are a good choice. I guess if money isnt a problem for you, go for it although if money really wasnt a problem you should go for a Mesa Boogie or a Marshall JCM800 0r something along this range. I would recommend you get a THD hotplate to go along with it. 100w in a HBD flat/Condo is a serious problem especially with your neighbours and they could hammer you consistently.

umm you should go for the blackstar. fyi, the people who started this brand called blackstar are the people who used to work in the MARSHALL R&D department, ie they are the people who design and make new marshall amps, at least used to. so expect top notch quality with hints of marshall in a blackstar amp.

I know but it's either this or a mesa lonestar. I feel that this amp is more versatile but I don't wanna have any regrets when I get it. Lets be fair. 2300 bucks is a lot of money.
