Blackheart Amps

well, from what i've read from mercury magnetics. blackheart purposely made their amps cheap and affordable so WE could mod it for instance change the transformers or whatever.
you guys can check out Mercury Magnetics
go to the blackheart section and you'll see what they say. i guess this could be why it lacks the punch you all want. i have no idea, if this is true. i wonder if they do sell the mod packages here in SG

I only know BH5 and B112 cost 505 when you buy as a set.
Beside Tampines, Plaza Singapura yamaha also got stock :)

Ok for the price range...

Tested my friend's BH15 and B112 combo today side by side with my Orange TT (the TT was tested on the B112 as well).... Definitely the TT sounds much better on clean and is more powerful when cranked up to 6 on the volume knob, the distortion sounds more punchy and doesn't have a humming sound with the same set of effect pedals....

The BH15 and B112 combo on the other hand sounds ok on the clean, you can get quite a nice warm clean tone but less punchy compared to the TT but lacks the bluesy feel when the gain is turned up to 3. On high gain for distortion, it quite impressive but it lacks the "Rocking time" feel as it doesn't sound as warm and sweet.

Overall, I'd say it's a great bargain at tat price for home usage and considering the price difference between an Orange TT, the BlackHeart BH15 and B112 Combo is a great bargain tat with mods might sound much better. By the way, I tried the BH15 on my marshall 1x12 cab and it sounds better and more clearer when on high gain. Maybe you might decide on changing the cab?

Just my personal review today tat might help you softies on your decision. At the end of the day, it's really down to the size of your bank account. Surprising thing is when we tried out something stupid, tried out my newly acquired Marshall JCM 2000 beside a BH15 and B112 combo.... after 30mins of trying to get the JCM 2000 to sound at the same level, it somehow almost sounded the same but less clearer abit more messy! Although the JCM 2000 was kinda muted at volume knob 1.

will head down to tampines tomorroe!
AHhh Yamaha dont carry the handsome devil.. i went down to plaza sing today. when i mention to them abt the Handsome devil.. it's seem blur to them and gave back that cracking joke face.( so embarressing). however they were kind enough to set up the BH for testing
they only carry the BH5H and the 112. also checked with them. the staff keep on putting down the blackheart..but to me honest. the sound is warm and i pretty like the clean tone. except it's not really detail. crank up the EQ doesnt make much differences at all, especially the high and low knob.
one good thing i like is that it's do have that pick attach sound,( like it)..

however the staff( an Emo fella) is correct, it's more of a starter amp.. and good kit for further modication.

look: 10/10( that cheeky look)
sound : 7/10
RTB: maybe

i think BH amps were made FOR modifications. esp the mercury magnetics mods. i would love to get a BH amp with the mods, but i doubt you can mod the amp in singapore.

Haha! "Emo Fella".

hey guys. was wondering, the bh-112 and the bh5h, is it good for metal. i mean, can it take pedals like the metal zone well? cos i really want an amp which has 'power' lol.

hey guys wanna ask how do the blackhearts sound when used together with pedals? E.g a dirt pedals into clean channel kind. Does it take pedals well?

Also i am curious to knowing whether can the amp heads be used to power a half stack....wanna know if anyone tried it all in the name of fun and how it sounded. haha. cheers.

One thing is for sure, the Little Giant can take pedals really well.......just leave it at 3 watts push the volume slightly over half and add a od or distortion pedal in front of it......tonal bliss........Cheers!

if i recall correctly, the bh15 is the handsome devil. but yamaha doesn't carry it.

i'm not too sure thou. that was when i last checked.

blackhearts only have a clean channel lol. i've pushed my metal monster into the blackheart and its awesome. i'll try to get some samples up soon.
