Hi guys, may i know if there are any distributors of bill lawrence pickups?

How does these brand sound and perform in terms of background noise and versatility? And how much do they cost generally?

I am looking to acquire a neck pickup which is good for soloing and to play rock and metal, it would be great if it can also do funk well.

Thanks for the opinions!!!!

AFAIK, there is no distributor in SG, so you gotta order straight from them. Last time I e-mailed, the shipping was about $20-25 I think. So IMO, it is a bit expensive to ship it over for just one pickup. Can't give you any opinions on it though, as I haven't tried it before. You should really list out the guitar and amp that you use though, which will help people to give their opinion.

The guitar i would like to swap pu's for is an LTD viper 50, basswood guitar with fixed bridge.

Pickup installed is stock at neck and Manlius Full Range PAF humbucker.

I use a practice amp and i rely on distortion pedals. Play metal stuff with biyang metal end king, rock stuff with a Pedaltank G-2 Distortion pedal with a tubescreamer clone at the front of these pedals.

:D

I was thinking about getting a seymour duncan neck pickup since the manlius pickup is apparently a hot rodded JB pickup. I was also thinking about ordering from manlius but both are expensive brands, this guitar would not be main gigging guitar probably so i probably would not be spending over 100 bucks on a neck pickup.

Yup more opinions very welcome :D:D:D!!!

You might want to look at HighOrder pickups.

Jeff winds humbuckers to custom specifications and is fairly cheap, with one hummy costing me about SGD135(USD90~95) INCLUDING shipping(That's about the cost of a production HB, eg DiMarzio PAF Pro). So you get to choose the type of magnet, wire gauge, no. of conductors, pickup colours/covers, DC resistance, etc. He scatter-winds the pickups, which is the boutique market equivalent of being 'hand-wound'.

I ordered a low output humbucker for the bridge of my Strat: 8.1K, 42Ga wire, AlNiCo II magnets and 4 conductor wires. He helped me a lot before I ordered though e-mail, so you can ask him for some guidance, but do be polite :). One catch though, the waiting time is about 8 weeks. I waited for 10 weeks for mine due to the US Independence Day celebrations. He doesn't really wind for the money, so he takes his time for each order(he even took a holiday during July 14th!), ensuring each one goes out perfect. It came in a small cardboard box(He reuses boxes) stuffed with styrofoam and the pickup was wrapped in bubble pack! Great service :). I rate him highly if you can't afford boutique pickups but can afford the wait!

Or, you could look at Artec Giovanni pickups over at TYMC. Definitely under 2 blue bills. :)

Anyway, this is just my opinion and recommendation so take it with a grain of salt, your YMMV. Good luck with your own finding of your humbucker!
