Hi guys i use a squier california tele and i'm not very satisfied with the neck PU. Too weak and dull for me, so i guess i need a change.

I want one that has a warm, smooth and bluesy tone, almost like a strat tone. Something that will sound good on like, john mayer songs.

So which do you guys think is the best bet Duncan pickup for my squier tele neck? And also tell me how much is it and where i can purchase it.

Thanks i'll be eternally greatful:)

how about tesla pup? abt $80 plus plus?
i have gfs neck & bridge set but didnt suit my squie tele body tone,
then replace them with standard fender neck strat single coil + fender tele bridge pup.. purfecto

Brand helps yes, Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio makes consistent and good pickups. But there are HUNDREDS of brands available. Ok, in Singapore you could find maybe 10-20? I don't know, but enough to satisfy most (hehe not all) guitar players here.

Dont limit yourself to 'brand' or advertising. Why don't you read up on pickup manufacturers more and find out how you would like to sound, hear some clips that are available on their sites or youtube or your favorite guitar player's tracks, and see your budget and get the appropriate pickup for you?

Not just Seymour Duncan would make you sound like John Mayer. Besides, he uses Fender pickups mostly.

I recommend a overwound Lindy Fralin Blues. It's on my Tele and it gets me blues real good~

Yup Breen got good point there,
Breen u put lindy fralin on your squier tele?
been hearing abt that pickup, good is it? how much for the set?

:)

gimme guitar, california series wood is heavy, more darker tone,
i used to own two of them, 1black & 1sunburst but pick up remained stock,
easier to get warm tone by adjustimg tone knob but not as twangy compared to my affinity...

this is my affinity, with standard fender pickups mod,
the twnag i tell u, even my mia tele cannot fight.. haha

I didn't put in, was from the previous owner. It's a GE Smith body with a CIJ neck. Not sure what's in the bridge but the neck's a Fralin Blues overwound. Not sure of the cost but TYMC could give you a quote.

It's a pickup for blues. I would prefer a more traditional leaning on the country side of things for the neck pickup since it's a maple necked Tele, but I'm a blues guy from the start so I'm still very happy with that~ I would think it would be pretty darn cool on a Strat. But the Strat middle pickups get in the way :D

Ge Smith? Red body with the 1/2 cut bridge? me already droolin.. haha
i got a highway one body, didnt like the maple neck that came with it, frets horrible but the stock pups ok,
so i just recently dump the mia neck & replace it with a mex custom rosewood neck, feel so much better.. for now.. hehe

I think if i get an SD i'll get the alnico 2 pro, read some reviews and the sound's exactly what i'm looking for. Maybe next time then ill pump more for the frallins, maybe in my bridge :)

I used a gfs fatbody neck pickup, awesome twang at a higher output, also did a 4 way switch mod to run the pick ups in series to get a humbucker sound. Oh yeah forgotten to add that its on a squier cali tele :)

Concur on the GFS. Cheap and definately pretty darn good.

Nope my GE Smith is a honey blonde or something like that. I dont like the half bridge. I have a Wilkinson Bridge that gives me the option of string tru bridgeplate option. But I like the strings to be pressing on my brass bridges tight from a string through. Twangy~

who want gfs tele set?i got, can let go cheap..
any pics to share? how is the body route for ge smith?
wilkinson is ok ok, i have also but still prefer the old fender bridge
