im looking for 98SNR digital audio player..i dont mind if it can play video or view photos as well..if not its ok..my main concern is audio quality..price does not matter to me..any suggestions?

Haha i'm still using my made in 2000 panasonic discman. Still works pretty good, except the rechargable battery abit losing power, finish faster than usual. My friend has this IPOD with black cover like damn nice, but the money oso nice.

yea i think your friend bought the U2 edition one... very expensive toyz man...

haizz im so tempted to buy an ipod now... but must tahan. they will be releasing new versions..so the older versions will be cheaper... hopefully can get a good second hand buy... perhaps a 40gig to use as a portable harddisk...

anyone has any news about the latest mac recording audio device?

the Asteroid ?

yah man the Zen's battery life is !@#$ing phenomenal... 27 hours man.
the ipods battery life i think still need to improve. hmm actually a 20gig zen touch is more then enough for me man... sacrifice abit in the design dept. but get the functionality. alot cheaper too....

Which Zen do you mean?
I have the Zen Micro 5Gb (silver, ltd edition). The battery lasts about 8 hours of constant playtime. Headphones are crappy and the wires are of an annoying length. I will be replacing them with some Sennheiser noise reducing puppies.
Also, headphone socket is playing up and I might need to exercise my warranty rights...

wah lao! u got micro zen! i also want!!

yea chan i was thinking about that too.. sacrific a little in the looks department to put every single MP3 i have on the go man!!

Actually, when you have it in your hand, it's pretty cool - feels nice and is only marginally less attractive that the GirlPod.

Only thing is the up/down arrow on the front UI is not as cool as the circular iPod control or as useable.

5Gb isn't that much actually. I managed to get about 103 albums, with 1173 tracks in at the default mp3 compression (128kbps?). Mainly rock, metal, prog, fusion, guitar stuff, so their 2500 track claim at the same rate must apply to Britney type 2 minute MTV crap.

Oh yeah, on the iPod Mini, the battery is not user replaceable. Lithium ion batteries eventually die after 12-18 months of use. According to Trainee Boy at the Wheelock Apple Centre, your alternatives in this case are to pay $200 to have it replaced, or to take out an additional extended warranty, magically costing about $200 for 2 years cover. Factor this in.

i was talking about the zen touch ... i read it lasts up to 24 hrs on 128kps and 32 hrs on 48kps

thats pretty damn cool...but come to think of it... one must REALLy be on the move if they need so much battery life.

will most prob wait for the later ipods... the prices will drop.... and when they do... i will be there...

iRiver H320 HDD MP3 Jukebox with USB Host feature

My recommendation is iRiver H300-series. Playback and record MP3, plus radio, DivX video playback, photo viewer, fully-customisable wallpapers.

these ipods and creative zens. as much as the battery life is long (in terms of hours); they're lifespan isnt.

would it be better to have players where the batt is affordable and easily accessible rather thant to fork out so much to replace the batt?

:(

Why need batteries that last forever? By the time they need replacing, you would be looking for new players. I suppose the average lifespan should be 3 years before they goes dead, especially when technology is evolving to make better-lasting batteries.
