Best place to get a bass setup?

Hey guys,
the action on my jazz b is pretty bad, or rather i would want it lower. There is some fret buzz as well on the lower A and E string.

If any of you could recommend me a place where i can get my bass setup well at a reasonable price?

thanks in advance!

I went to Malcolm for a full set-up (sanding down the nut, changing strings etc) and was very happy with the result as well. Do note, however, that his prices are above average, and that you'll need to go to his house which is in the East.

I've also visited KC from Maestro for a slight set-up (some fret buzz after a few months) and was happy with the service and all.

If you're planning to just adjust the action for 1 string, I suggest that you visit KC instead. Less travelling hassle and cheaper prices.

+1 to KC. do not that he is not at the shop everyday though, you gotta check when he is in. if im not wrong its tue thu sat

Just collected my set upped bass done by KC.. Very satisfied!! :D
Eliminated all the fret buzz and got optimum low action.. at a reasonable price

my bass has some issue like that

when i play metallica's for whom the bell tolls i cant play one fret on the g string. Theres just some weird noise.
Has it got something to do with it being the active note or something? and how where can i go and fix this?

cheers,

fugazi

^^ i think you found a dead note on your bass. something to do with the fret not being level, if i'm not wrong

okay i got a quote from malcom. i feel that the price is really above average. i might be wrong. curious how much does kc charge? or the average setup cost?

thanks

Maestro's standard service charges are fixed... i think can be found on their site. but it should be $40 for setup, the last time i sent my bass to him

i got quoted 130 from malcom. or is there a diff with set up and "full" set up? im pretty sure my trus rod need some adjusting. not sure if theres a diff.

Thanks zero g that really nice of you but ill be using an epi jack casidy this sat, not the jazz or p. Ill prob give kc a call to enquire summore. Seems to be the best place to get a setup at a good price!
