heya guyz...just pondering the thought of where the best place to hold a gig in singapore is...as we all know..our sunny country holds many venues that can hold gigs/upcomming events...just wanna see what ur thoughts on where u think the best place is...n also why u think so....

my opinion is substation cause the atmoshphere is really cool..n u can really get "close" to the bands.....

the best places

well..if the WTC amphitheatre was still there, it would be my first choice.
but otherwise i think the esplanade's waterfront stage has the best ambience for a gig.

wat kinda music/genre do you wanna feature?
if it's more to the core/emo/punk whack em music for moshers then the substation is a good place for that.

if it's of a mass-friendly/intimate music genre then the waterfront stage serves a perfect setting.

sorry... i'm biased here :) but if you're talking about acoustic sets, the singapore art cafe would be a good place to hold them. kinda small (holds about 45-50 pp, with lots of standing room at the back though), but definitely intimate and cosy. come check it out on Wednesdays when we have open mic sessions.

btw, we just hosted some Baybeats workshops last weekend. Ken Stringfellow, The Velvet Teen, Kenneth Ishak and Derek Hess among others were there to talk about their music and belt out a couple of songs unplugged.

I think Esplanade Chillout stage is still the best. The soundcheck and mixing are done professionally. Only problem is that if you sit at far left you will only hear the left mix and if you sit at far right you will only hear the right mix. They mix it stereo and not mono I think.

void deck during malay weddings... eat briyani and watch bands play and laugh at the people who mosh and fall
