Hey guys i have a $ 2000 dollar budget for an acoustic set for my home. i dont want a huge kit. An 18 inch base drum will do. Any suggestions? $2000 is only for the basic kit. I have my own snares and paiste dark energy cymbals so i just need a good solid drums with a small budget. thinking either a stage custom or mapax ? oh and pls state what series too thanks!

well erm pretty small room on a raised deck .. erm sound proofed slightly and treated.. acrylic kits.. how do they sound like? from peace ? or mapex ?

if i'm not wrong acrylic kits are quite loud and more resonant then regular wood shells...
not a good choice if you're looking for a relatively smaller and softer kit.
in my opinion you should go down to ranking and get yourself a pdp custom sized. seeing that you've got dark energy cymbals, a pdp would really suite you, with is warm sounds.

yeah i'm sure a 5 piece kit is around 1.2-1.6k, price ranges with the finishing
22"x16" 10"x9" 12"x10" 14"x14" with a 14"x5" wood snare.
I'm sure if you custom order the price won't be that different.
ask kanzer about it, he's got a pdp he'll tell you how good it is.

thanks guy for all your help.. oh yes i'm looking for a one high tom a 18 inch base drum and two floor toms set .. what specs will compliment a 18 base ? like a 12 high 14 and 16 floors ?

wah you have want a 18" bass and 18" floor?
woah, i'm afraid your floor is gona outsound your bass...
probably go for 10", 12", 14", 16"...
the problem with 18" toms is that in singapore its damn hard to find skins for 18" toms, you end up buying 18" bass skins. that indirectly means you're gona be changing sticks pretty often.

haha not 18 floor .. 18 base ,12 high tom 14 and 16 floor toms shd sound good together right ? sorry my mistake 18 floor.. gosh..

haha with tt budget you can get many different kits. peace, pdp,i thin mapex and pearl and tama. etc etc. yep. pdp has great sounding kits. but their hihat stands and cymbals stands are not tt good. the actual 5 piece is good. yep..

everyone all forgot about gretch all maple kits!!! those stuff are value for money!!!

6 piece kits with real nice finishes and great hardware configuration for only 1.2 to 1.5k..!!

If you want two floors, then 12", 14", 16". However if you're going for an 18" bass I'd personally get two mounted toms and go 10", 12", 14" instead, though of course you can also mount the 12" in a floor tom position off a stand. Still, it's your choice and 12", 14", 16", 18" would make for some cool sound possibilities.

Most drums in your price range will probably be a full kit (including snare), so yeah - PDP, Mapex, Yamaha are all good options. You might also want to look at the 6-pc Gretsch Catalina Maple (Ranking should have it), around $1650 or so including Gibraltar 5600 series hardware. That stuff is solid and very good value for money.
